To be a good link crew leader
Link Crew Leader
I believe what makes a good Link Crew Leader is someone who is a person-friendly person. Who is likeable and is very helpful to others. To be a good Link Crew Leader means you are a eager, kind, an reliable person who can set the example for the freshmen. Also a good Link Crew Leader is someone that welcomes the new freshmen and also makes them feel comfortable during their freshmen year of high school. Also as optimistic role models, I believe that a good Link Crew Leaders are mentors/student leaders who would be able to guide the freshmen to learn what it takes to be successful during their freshmen year of high school and also helps them to succeed. An also a good Link Crew Leader helps give freshmen to support and guidance. An example of a good Link Crew Leader is during orientation day they help the new freshmen feel welcome and not so much of a loner. They help show the freshmen that high school is fun and if you need somebody to lean on, Link Crew is there for you.
I believe that building the community at Madison mean to me is how we should set the example in the new freshmen. By this I mean is if we show the new freshmen kindness and Link Crew is good. They would also want to be in Link Crew and be a good student due to the kindness shown to them. The reason why I said that is because I say a movie called ‘Pay It Forward’ where a kid believed that a recipient of a favor does a favor for three others rather than paying the favor back. However, it needs to be a major favor that the receiver can't complete themselves. I believe if we do something similar to that then by giving the freshmen kindness they will give the next freshmen kindness and so on. Also we are the first people the new freshmen will meet and see, we are the link for their transition from middle school to high school that will help them when needed. An in return they will help out their community due to help given to them.

Scott Peck, author of The Different Drum: Community and Making Peace, describes community as "people living together in both freedom and love." Communities cannot be formed around people (individualists) who are busy satisfying their own needs first and who are not willing to work hard to make love work. Upon entering this class I realized that a community is not an automatic thing. It does not just appear out of thin air. A group must work together to build bonds between each other. The community in which we are trying to build upon is compiled of many different types of people varying in age, race, sex, class, career, etc. It is going to take some time to build the trust, communication, freedom, and love that we need to form a community.…

A good leader has great vision. He knows where he wants to go and he knows how to motivate people to believe in the same vision he has for his group and life. He views things as what they could be and not what they are. A good leader is a very passionate person. He is intensely obsessed in whatever he is focused on. He also has compassion for his fellows. While he has goals to accomplish, he consistently cares for the individuals that support him. A good leader is not a selfish individual only thinking about his wants and needs. Also, a good leader is determined in attaining his goals. It is undeniably true that the key to leadership is accomplishing the tasks at hand while building relationships.…

Jay Z once said, “Nobody built like you, you design yourself.” This quote embodies a campus’ culture tremendously. There are no two colleges that have the same culture. Kennesaw State University’s culture is like no other school and it is completely unique to Kennesaw. The students at this school shaped the culture of KSU into what it is today. Here at Kennesaw there is a wide variety of characteristics that go into our culture. The events I attended focused in on just a few of them, but I believe they are the most important ones.…

HBCUs are often not given the credit they deserve in molding young students of color into prideful and talented students ready for a workforce catered to their white peers. These students may have been accepted by HBCUs when no other school accepted them because of their race or scores, giving them the chance for opportunities found only in a college setting they were close to not receiving. The benefits of an HBCU education outweighs many of the so-called “disadvantages” many sites such as the “lack of diversity”, at least to me. I believe that through an HBCU education I will gain valuable social skills, a strong network of people in a variety of fields, and a better understanding of African American history in an environment made for students like me. From the yearly homecomings to the festive concerts to the illustrious Greek Life; HBCUs are known for their vibrant student cultures and social events.…

Being an active member of a community is critical to creating a good learning atmosphere. The word community is sometimes overused and does not get the emphasis it desires. People want to feel apart of something and creating a functioning system is necessary for success. I have always had a love for working with a team and as a leader, I try to help others achieve their goals. If I attended Villanova, I would make the noun community become a verb by helping others, accepting others, and leading others.…

    1. When I think of what I can contribute to the university to community, I begin to look at what the university is all about. Florida A M University is all about warmth and acceptance. It’s all about driving students from all walks of life to perform to the best of their capabilities. There all about welcoming African American students and encouraging them to pursue greater heights. My only wish is that I will be given a chance to contribute even in the smallest of way, in helping the university keep its reputation and the prestige it deserves. Doing so is not an impossible task for I believe that simply being myself will be a contribution itself. I honestly believe that I am strong enough to face the multiple challenges that will come along the way as I pursue my…

Yet, the various organizations at Austin College sparked my interest, and slowly but surely I began to get involved. Although I have been overwhelmed at times, I quickly learned that being involved in the Sherman community and Austin College’s organizations have become a vital part of my college experience. My experience in these short 7 months have taught me the value of service and being involved. When I performed service events in the past, it was to gain service hours and build up a résumé. Now I serve because helping others give me a genuinely great feeling. My involvement in organizations has helped me to develop character traits such as, integrity, leadership, and service, and other traits that simply cannot be taught in a classroom. I know that these everlasting seeds of integrity, service, and leadership will continue to flourish well beyond college.…

As a student, I try to achieve as many goals as possible. I have try to the best the student I could possibly be. I will admit this year wasn't the best for me. My grades weren't the greatest. But I don't grades should be the only thing that determines a high school student. I think who the person is on the inside what makes a high school student. I am a very kind person. I hate injustice done on anyone. I always stand up for what I believe in. I feel everyone should be given a fair chance in anything they do. I love being able to help anyone. I love knowing something I do can change someone's life. I use to do the Latin Club. I use to do the Earth Club. I use to do Build On. This year I have been more forced on the SATs and college. I want be a lawyer. Being able to someone is what love. The only thing I do outside of school is volunteer at the Norwalk Shelter. One challenge I faced in high school had to do with peer pressure. I was offered the chance to try weed. I knew that so many people at school did it, and I thought this was my chance to be popular. I didn't do it. I realized those people didn't want to be my friend. I realized that I didn't need to be popular. I am happy with my life just the way it is. I know who my friends are and it isn't those people. I realized I wanted to do it to become something I am not. I learned that day I should never lose my integrity. Someone once said, “Thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become character, character is everything." I didn't want to become that person I would have if I said yes. I wish I knew as a freshman to get involved more. When you are involved, it will help you in the long run, especially for college. Plus it is a great way to meet new people. In the lunch, I sit right across from the girl's restroom in the cafeteria. I sit with a cool and supportive group of friends. I love them like family. There you have it, I little bit about myself. I really want to do Link Crew because you get to…

Just as the AP course positively impacted me, with the assistance of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, I know I can have the same impact on the University of Louisville community. At the University of Louisville, I hope to earn my degree in chemical engineering. I do understand that this degree requires a lot of knowledge about mathematics. Because I was able to overcome difficult academic situations in high schools, I know I am better prepared to deal with these challenges in college. Furthermore, my experiences of struggling in my AP courses have helped me become more sympathetic to my peers. If I see one of my peers struggling, I will provide assistance to them because I know how hard it is to ask for help. By working with my peers, we can ultimately develop a friendship inside and outside the classroom. By developing these relationships, we can learn from one another. While I cannot change my peers’ perspectives about certain issues, I can introduce them to a new perspective, my perspective. By introducing my peers to my perspective, I have helped them become more self-aware as they can do the same for me. In essence, by attending the University of Louisville, I know I can uphold the University’s mission by improving my peers’ lives by sharing my own lived experiences in classrooms. By sharing my narrative and experiences, I know I will create a more diverse…
