Key Club
End of the Year

The word obligation is defined as “a binding promise, a sense of duty; something that is done for set reasons”. An obligation is something we have promised ourselves, and sometimes others, that we would do, and they cannot be forgotten. As Key Club representatives, we have a duty to keep our club running smooth throughout the year and finish out the year strong. It is important to fulfill end-of-the-year obligations for Key Club because others are dependent on us. We are a team and we all depend on each other in order to have a successful club. Officer elections being held mean that there is now a new staff, a new team, a new group of people that are collaborating for a common goal. In some cases, there are returning members and for some, this is a brand new experience. Making an effort to reach out and encourage each other is important. As the saying goes, “there is no I in team” meaning that we work together and each have to fulfill our part in order for our team’s success. Together, we can ensure next year’s prosperity. This summer will fly by and before we know it, our 2013-2014 school year will knock on the door and expect us to be prepared. In order to not be caught off guard, we should be ready for what the new year will hold out to us. An idea for next school year could be that we make the meetings more entertaining. Incoming freshmen will be curious as to what Key Club really is, and are more likely to join if they’re having fun while volunteering. Also, more social events should be planned such as a sport tournament or maybe even a night out playing laser-tag or meeting at a bowling alley. One last idea for the upcoming year could be to volunteer monthly at a local nursing home. We could have dedicated Key Clubbers, and incoming freshmen who wish to become more involved, meet with the elderly. Whether we want to pair just one or a few certain Key Club members to one “grandparent” or just everybody spend time with all of the

Being a member of Best Buddies and SAVE, I demonstrate a strong sense of dedication for supporting others and lending a helping hand. The goals of both Best Buddies and SAVE are to further acceptance, embrace diversity, promote safety in schools, and spreading positive energy. As a student representative, my sole objective would be to help enlighten the school board and those in the community about the daily life at MHS, advocate for the 1,600 students currently attending, and respectively relay any helpful amendments that would benefit the Mukwonago Area School District. The multiple clubs I participate in and the copious amounts of friendships I developed with people that have contrasting passions also allow me to speak on behalf of a relatively large group of students. The students taking part in the same activities that I belong to range from freshman to seniors. The opinions of a freshman compared to that of a senior’s may vary drastically, and being a part of clubs with a sample of each year will give me an advantage to hear an assortment of…

All I could think about was, “What if I mess up” as I prepared for my first meeting, I’ll be leading as Key Club president. However, all I needed to do was relax, think about my first meeting as a newly integrated sophomore, review my presentation notes, and confirm the information with the Key Club advisor. As I thought of my first few years of Key Club I remembered what it meant to be the president and a leader. Being president meant being a motivator, organizer, and a problem solver so that everyone can accomplish their individual goals. With those thoughts in mind, I began my presentation.…

After being a part of Key Club throughout my high school years, I learned how to give back to the community that has raised me and the conspicuous impact I can have in someone’s life simply through volunteering. Through Key Club, I help create service projects with local organizations and give members of our club an opportunity to volunteer and give back. One experience I will never forget is helping set up a blood drive in school with one of our local organizations, Bloodworks Northwest, a local blood bank that helps saves lives through research, innovation and education in blood. Our Key Club had to inform the school of the event that was happening, and encourage students to donate blood. It required hours of creating posters, informing the…

Something that I have done that I believe has made my school a better place would be joining Link Crew. Link Crew has allowed me to help the freshman as they join the school. A big influence I had to join Link Crew was that I had a great Link Crew leader that really helped me when I was entering freshman year. Being in Link Crew, I have met many freshman entering the high school that I am able to help just as my Link Crew leader did for me. As a Link Crew leader I started off with a number of students in a group that we meet during their orientation. By having this group, I attend for them to get comfortable and know that they have peers along side them that are adjusting to what they can expect in high school. Throughout the school year, I…

Being part of the Environmental Club I made sure to do whatever I could to promote environmental safety, how we could reduce the consumption of electricity and water. Knowing that our earth our home is being depleted of its natural resources it worries me that our future generations will not have a peaceful and beautiful environment. We also participated in Relay for Life where we promoted cancer awareness. With the recycle club we also encouraged people to recycle and distributed recycling binds around the school to all the staff members. The yearbook club allowed me to get to know my school better I would interview sports teams and create pages for them in the yearbook. In the Diversity club I was the Vice-President and our members promoted diversity within our school to help our school’s staff and students learn more about people’s different cultures and backgrounds. This required me to listen to others to let them know that I cared about what they were saying and how they felt. With the National Honors Society, I was able to help out with the Greensboro Interactive Resource Center, providing help for the less fortunate.…
