There might have been countless times where we might have been given the power to create change but have unfortunately misused that power and wasted it. Having such power can be overwhelming however there has always been the time where we gather the courage to stand up and lead, open our mouths and pour out the knowledge that we have accumulated through the years. Being part of the Environmental Club I made sure to do whatever I could to promote environmental safety, how we could reduce the consumption of electricity and water. Knowing that our earth our home is being depleted of its natural resources it worries me that our future generations will not have a peaceful and beautiful environment. We also participated in Relay for Life where we promoted cancer awareness. In the Diversity club I was the Vice-President and our members promoted diversity within our school to help our school’s staff and students learn more about people’s different cultures and backgrounds. This required me to listen to others to let them know that I cared about what they were saying and how they felt. With the National Honors Society, I was able to help out with the Greensboro Interactive Resource Center, providing help for the less fortunate.
I also volunteered at Hairston Middle, Falkener Elementary and Murphey Traditional Academy with the help of my High school. There are many accomplishments in my life of which I am proud, however there are two for which I am especially proud. Those being, having the opportunity to play varsity shortstop in high school, and having good enough grades to be nominated for, and to be admitted into, the National Honor Society. These accomplishments make me proud because they are goals that I was able to set and accomplish for myself. These are successes that not everyone can say that they have achieved.…

A member of such a society based on character, scholarship and leadership is one who can demonstrate these three tasks in their everyday lives. The ease of maintaining a balanced schedule whilst also upholding these characteristics may not be the simplest of tasks at times, even for the best students, although the drive to strive for this essence sets individuals apart from the majority. I believe that in my everyday life, I demonstrate these ideals and would heartily enjoy guiding others in them. To be exercise any of these qualities requires one’s own desire, a desire which I not only try to instill into myself, but into others as well. Being part of the National Honor Society would not only be an honor in and of itself, but an honor which is able to transcend its membership and let a person such as myself try to better the school, town, and familial communities by doing good in each of them.…

“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…

Since its establishment, the National Honor Society has been built upon the core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout the years, National Honor Society has upheld these pillars, and its outstanding club members strive to embody these values in every aspect of their lives. However, these four principles add up to become something much more over the course of National Honor Society’s lifetime -- its legacy. These four honorable tenets are what constitutes a legacy, and I wish to become an individual who represents all of these core values -- and more. I genuinely believe that I exemplify most of the qualities that National Honor Society values, and though I am aware that I am still lacking in some, I will work…

When I was a National Honor Society Member at my High School, we were able to work with a program called VIP Soccer in which volunteers played with and taught special needs children the game of soccer. It was actually my favorite event within our organization especially when we got to see how happy each child was and the smiles on their parents’ faces when they saw that their son or daughter was having fun. Eventually, I was so inspired by this movement that I actually started a similar program but at my local golf club. How I got this started was actually by meeting the owner of the golf club, and the parents of my teammates on my school golf team. After a couple of months of planning and talking to more interested volunteers, I was finally…

Joining National Junior Honor Society could result in new opportunities that pertain to my future , help me get into college, teach me things and give me the opportunity to help other people besides myself. In hopes of becoming a member of this honor society, I would fully dedicate myself to participating in the club. I would do my best to fulfill my duties as a member like attending Homecoming, tutoring, food and clothing drives, fundraisers and service projects whatever they may be. I want to be in this society because I hope it will teach me the fundamentals of the future such as leadership and cooperation. I feel as though I could be a fundamental asset to the upbringing of this honor society. I hope that I will be able to prolong my experience as a member all through the rest of high school thus giving me the edge to get ahead to college. This club could help me make friends as well. Joining the honor society would help me get acquainted with more teachers who would help me get accepted and admitted into the right college and the right future. This honor society could prepare me for the upcoming future in that it could teach me to become a more punctual and successful person in society. I believe I could be an adamant member because I challenge myself constantly, strive towards new goals, and have maintained near academic perfection since kindergarten. When I was younger I participated in a local spelling and I got all the way to the top; unfortunately, I failed to win because I misspelled the word “holiday.” From that day forward I committed that word to memory so that I would never make such a foolish mistake again. I learned that day that I should not strive for total perfection but for my very best and that is what I can offer if chosen to be a fellow member. I was chosen as a candidate to display the academic prestige but I believe I can offer so much more like exemplary efforts of leadership,…
