Kennesaw Student Culture Report
Community is an American Television Sitcom Created by Dan Harmon that Premiered on NBC Jay Z once said, “Nobody built like you, you design yourself.” This quote embodies a campus’ culture tremendously. There are no two colleges that have the same culture. Kennesaw State University’s culture is like no other school and it is completely unique to Kennesaw. The students at this school shaped the culture of KSU into what it is today. Here at Kennesaw there is a wide variety of characteristics that go into our culture. The events I attended focused in on just a few of them, but I believe they are the most important ones. The first event I attended was Lip Sync, which occurred during homecoming week. It was located on a grass …show more content…
Overall, there is a huge sense of community, which I find the most important. I not only noticed this at every single thing I went to, but I’ve noticed a sense of community in my everyday life here at Kennesaw. At Lip Sync, there was also a culture of inclusivity and competition, on top of community. Even though I’m not in a sorority, the girls I sat with still treated me as a friend and not as an outsider. Lip Sync’s culture was very interesting in the way that there was a strong sense of competition while still bringing everyone together to show Kennesaw’s culture of community. The Lupe Fiasco concert had a large sense of community as its culture. I’m assuming a large majority of the people didn’t know any of his songs besides Lupe’s most popular one, (like myself) but the whole performance was still so much fun and I think that was largely due to the crowd. At the football game, there was an immense amount of community and obviously, competition as well. It was so great to see how spirited and passionate Kennesaw State students are. Everyone around me was so captivated in what was happening and cheered until they couldn’t possibly scream anymore. When you’re jam packed into the stadium, standing with all the other students, there is a certain energy in the air that is almost unexplainable unless you experience it for yourself. It gives you a huge sense of school pride. The enormous sense of community in the culture here at KSU certainly adds to my college experience and makes going to this school incredibly

Many of the problems now and in time have been the product of someone stereotyping someone else for being “different” than they are. It can be based off the pigmentation of one’s skin, the religious differences between people, but more often than not, it is because of the class a person falls into economically. Class is a system that distinguishes people by the amount of money a person makes, or that is what class is supposed to be. We often see the upper-class portrayed as educated, clean, and powerful people as opposed to the lower-class who are seen as dirty, lazy, and powerless individuals. The way the media stereotypes the economic classes makes a class seem like a culture instead of an economic standing. In many cases, us individuals allow those stereotypes to become who we are.…

Scott Peck, author of The Different Drum: Community and Making Peace, describes community as "people living together in both freedom and love." Communities cannot be formed around people (individualists) who are busy satisfying their own needs first and who are not willing to work hard to make love work. Upon entering this class I realized that a community is not an automatic thing. It does not just appear out of thin air. A group must work together to build bonds between each other. The community in which we are trying to build upon is compiled of many different types of people varying in age, race, sex, class, career, etc. It is going to take some time to build the trust, communication, freedom, and love that we need to form a community.…

In 1952, a man called Ed Lehner discovered some extinct mammoth bone fragments in the geological deposits at the locality named Lehner Mammoth-Kill Site. Lehner notified the Arizona State Museum and excavations took place in 1955, and again in 1974. This site is located in southern Arizona. It is very important because this site is the first to be associated with the Clovis culture to have definable fire hearths. Approximately 11,000 years ago, a group of hunters from the Clovis People, camped there and killed, butchered, and cooked mammoths, bison, and tapirs. Also, Lehner Mammoth-Kill Site is often associated with evidence that mammoths were killed here thousands of years ago…

Being a community, network, and family details my view of the “Hokie Spirit.” At Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT), I am certain that there is overwhelming support from professors and students because of the unique atmosphere I perceived when touring. While walking around the brick buildings, I felt as if all students knew each other, or that each of them had something in common. This aspect that every person who strode pass me entailed, was pride or “Hokie Spirit.” I could sense the fulfillment each individual had for attending one of the top public schools in the United States, and because of this, “Hokie Spirit” flourishes throughout the campus.…
