Monologue About Abortion
I awoke to the sounds of birds singing, and the light shining through the window of my bedroom. I opened my eyes and stretched my pale arms towards the ceiling. As I put on my slippers, I thought to myself, “today is going to be a good day.” And went downstairs to get breakfast. I hummed to the tune of one of the many songs I had heard on the radio as I made myself a bowl of Frosted Flakes. Once I had finished eating, I got ready and went to school. I did this routine for five days until the sixth day came around. On the sixth day, I began to feel sick while eating my cereal, and was having severe cramps during the day. I knew immediately that something was wrong. As soon as I got home from an art class that day, I went into the bathroom, …show more content…
Sh-should I get an abortion?” I asked shakingly
“Yes! Yes, Jennifer do that. That will make the whole situation go away. Do you want me to drive you to the doctor’s office to get some abortion pills prescribed to you or something?”
“I-I don’t know yet, this is a big decision. I have a child growing in me!” “I know, I know. Just let me know when you’ve made up your mind okay? Just think about what both of our parents will do if you keep this baby. I have to go, but I know you’ll make the right choice. Love you.” “Okay, bye. I love you, too.” And with that, I hung up the phone.
For the next couple days, I was a mess. I missed three days of school before I decided that I was going to keep the baby. I called Charles to tell him my decision. “Hey.” I said surprisingly calm, given the situation at hand. “Hey Jenn. Have you decided what you’re going to do?” Charles asked anxiously. “Yeah. I’ve decided I’m going to keep the baby. Will you raise it with me?”
Silence.
“Hello? Charles?” I asked, starting to panic. “Jennifer, are you crazy? My parents are going to kill me! I’m sorry, but I’m not going to raise this baby with you. There’s no way. I just can’t. You’re going to have to do this

“I-I don’t know.” I lied
“So you got impregnated by a boy you don’t even know? Jennifer we did not raise you to run around getting pregnant! Especially by people you don’t know! Who do you think you are? You are not some whore who can walk around and get pregnant by every man you meet! What were you thinking?! Your mother and I need some time to sort this out. Go to your room and don’t come out until we tell you.”
Fighting back tears, I went to my room. I picked up my phone and called Charles. All I got was his voice machine, “Hey it’s Charles, I can’t come to the phone right now, please leave a message and I’ll call you back.” Once I hear the ‘beep’ I left my message. “Hey Charles, it’s Jennifer. I just told my parents about...the thing. They aren’t taking it too well. They told me to stay in my room until they figured it out. Call me back once you’ve gotten this. I love you, bye.” I turned off my phone, put it on the nightstand next to my bed, and took a

I glance at it and see my wife’s picture on the screen. She never calls me at this time, so I immediately answer. I hear two different cries on the other side of the line. “I need you to take a deep breath and tell me what’s going on. Are you guys okay?” My heart sank to the pit of my stomach. “Maddy’s toe is falling off! I need you to meet me at the emergency room! We’re on our way there now!” my wife sobbed. “I need you to calm down. Is she okay? I’ll meet you guys there.” I responded. I hung up the phone. My girls needed me. My little girl is in pain and all I can hear was her crying out for me in the background. I grabbed my keys and ran out the door. I called another manager to come in on my way to the hospital, but I couldn’t wait for them to get there. I had to get to the hospital. The emotions were all over the place, but I had to stay positive for my girls. “Everything will be okay”, I whispered to myself as I entered the…
