Shima Takeo Monologue
Hey, my name’s Shima Takeo. I live with my grandparents, my parents died when I was a kid. No one knows how or when, but my grandma tells me they were in an accident. I’m ten and although my parents are gone, I have no other problem in life except for one thing. I have a bit of a bully problem.

Every day when I’m walking to school they jump me under the bridge and take any money my grandmother gave me. I give them a little so they think I gave them it all, but I hide enough to get through the day on a simple pork bun. As of late, weird things have been happening. I’ll get mad at people and just hope for something bad to happen and it always does.

Today the kids who normally jump me did it again, “Hey Stinkma Taco, where’s our money?”

I send my fist into his stomach and pull back one more for his face but I get dizzy. My head spins and it fades to black. I hear a thud, yelling and a boy who I’ve never heard before. “Bloody hell, they banged you up real nice, didn’t they? It’s okay, I’ll help you.” I wake up in my room, my right arm is in bandages and my head is …show more content…
I reach the living room to find my grandmother and a random boy at the table. He must’ve been the boy I heard, I walk up and knock on the wall “Hello?” I ask in a soft voice.

“Who are you and why are you here?” My grandmother gasps and he tells her its okay. He looks me up and down, “They hurt you pretty bad. I was the one who carried you home. I was also the one to patch you up. My names Declan, Declan Summers. I came here to speak with your grandmother about coming to a new school.”

I jump a bit and sit down next to him, “Isn’t a teacher or the school supposed to send a formal letter and not a student?” He laughed and nodded, “Yes, but my dad was sent and he brought me along. He fell asleep so I decided to tell you instead. So, would you like to come with me or stay here?”

Thinking, “I need time to decide, why me?” “Your powers have come to light and now with your power, you are given the privilege of joining the school,” he said quite seriously. “Powers? Privilege to join what? What type of school is this?”

He laughs and looks me dead in the eye, “Taemiths, school of magic of course. A school where people who have magical powers go to train and fine-tune themselves into skillful mages.” Pulling a paper from his side, he hands it to

    Shigatsu Monologue

My biggest problem with Shigatsu would having to be the constant monologuing. I don’t have any problem with monologues as a literary device, but Shigatsu uses it too much. It takes away from the impact of the monologues. I’m a big fan of showing, and not telling as much, but Shigatsu just barely does any *real* showing. There are plenty of monologues that can be taken out of the show, and it would be for the better. When there’s at least one monologue per episode (usually more), it really starts to get tiring for me personally. This only applies to Shigatsu however, as I really like Oregairu, which also had its fair share of monologues. The difference is that Oregairu had enjoyable monologues, while Shigatsu has monologues that border on pretentious.…
