Who Is Cristiano Ronaldo?
Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, a small island off the western coast of the country. Ronaldo is the youngest of the of four children. Cristiano got his last name from president Ronald Regan, one of his dad's favorite actors. By the time Ronaldo was 10 years old, Ronaldo was already preparing to play pro soccer. Cristiano Ronaldo is like all kids who eat, sleep and drink soccer. Playing soccer was all he ever wanted to do as a kid. He loved to play soccer so much that he wouldn’t come home for dinner or while he is supposed to be sleeping, or doing his homework, he would take a ball outside and play soccer. Ronaldo also took Manchester United to the 2009 Champions League Final, however, they lost 2-0 to FC Barcelona. In June of 2009, Real Madrid paid a huge fee of $131million to sign Ronaldo. Ronaldo's loyalty to Manchester United had come under never-ending questions, and rumors swirled that he wanted to play somewhere else. He then went on to prove to his old soccer club that they made a mistake for letting him go. Ronaldo's career in Real Madrid started out very well, scoring plenty of goals in his first soccer matches, but, he would end up getting stopped due to his first injury, in October 2009. However, he recovered his form a couple months later and still found a way to score 33 goals in his first season playing with Real Madrid, but, he did not score enough to bring home any type of trophy in the 2009-10 season. In the 2010-2011 season, Ronaldo had a marvelous personal performance, he broke several all- time records, not only in Real Madrid, but also in the Spanish League. He scored a total of 41 goals in La Liga, in which he broke the La Liga record 38 goals set by Jugo Sanchez and Telmo
