Weight Watchers Vs Nutrisystem
If you want to lose weight, there are many diet plans and programs available with a variety of records of success. Two of the most popular weight loss programs in the US are Weight Watchers and Nutrisystem. The food pyramid is at the core of the Nutrisystem program. The online weight management system centers on the consumption of “good” carbohydrates versus “bad” carbohydrates. On the other hand, Weight Watchers restricts no food. This program assigns points to different foods and the higher the calories in a particular food item, the more points. Your main goal is to stay below a certain number of points per week. When comparing the two weight management programs, there are a number of factors that you might like to consider, like …show more content…
Don’t expect foods using refined carbohydrates or “bad” carbs like flour and sugar to be part of the menu. Complex carbohydrates (obtained from whole grains, vegetables and fruits) which are “good” carbs and other foods that rank low in the glycemic index are preferred. These delivered meals can be supplemented with fresh vegetables and fruits. If you detest calorie counting, then this is a program you will definitely like because it takes the calorie counting out of dieting and makes the program easy to follow. Keep in mind that even if you pay extra to order specific meals, as opposed to letting Nutrisystem choose your meals, they have the right to substitute meals if their inventory is low on what you requested. Some users have reported that up to 30 percent of their order was substituted for meals they found unappetizing. Unfortunately, once the meals stop coming, members feel unprepared to make their own meals based on the Nutrisystem …show more content…
The program helps participants become more aware of their caloric intake and output. Since there are no food restrictions, it allows the members to still eat the foods that they love, as long as they keep in consideration that the higher the calories in the food, the higher the point value. Some restaurants have joined their bandwagon by providing diners with information on Weight Watchers points for certain menu selections, which hundreds of these restaurants are available online and makes dining out and sticking to the plan easier. Exercise or physical activity is also assigned a number, but the value is negative. Although the points system may be confusing for some, Weight Watchers educates its members on making healthy food choices, teaches members to recognize proper portion sizes, and prepares members for long-term weight management success.
Nutrisystem provides support online or through the phone. One-on-one, face-to-face meetings are not part of their program and there is no public weigh-ins, which for some people finds intimidating. In lieu of this, their website is loaded with tracking tools, resources, blogs, diaries, forums and more all in support of its member’s weight management goals. A virtual trainer is available to show you different exercise

Phil bravely states that he will not tell me what I want to hear; he seems to revel in his “I call it as I see it; I will tell you the truth” philosophy. Effective weight control will never be “quick and easy”, but that is “doable”. His book espouses a philosophy that is brilliant in its simplicity. He includes a wealth of self-analysis in the form of assessments, timelines, goal setting, readiness profiles and action plans. His book incorporates concrete details for daily planning and food action plans, which include a specific system of meal planning that is widely used by dietitians and health organizations. He describes a divided-plate system for meal planning: ¼ protein, ¼ starch, and ½ low-calorie, high-fiber plant-based food—fruits and vegetables.…

    1) I did list down what I had for the last 24 hours and I found I had something from each of the five major food groups which are correct per MyPlate.com. I exceeded the number of servings for vegetables because I take romaine lettuce and add a little bit of seasoning (Mrs. Dash) to it and eat it like I would eat chips. This helps me to get the crunch I like and also keep my caloric intake at a minimum.…

This is because almost 90% of people who undergo particular diet are actually having an emotional relationship with food. First I had to determine my daily requirements by using a calorie calculator. I was able use the weight loss calculator to determine the time and calorie deficit required to reach my target weight. For my optimal weight loss I reduced my calories to 15-20% below maintenance. When I did not make progress I increased this later, the larger my deficit produced, the quicker my body caught on. I learn that my first step should be to increase my activity levels. By me creating a larger calorie deficit, I had to exercise, cardio to burn calories, resistance training to maintain muscle mass.…

What I disliked about the plan is that there was not a bit of junk food, I enjoy eating chocolate so much but I crave too much so it was very difficult for me focus on the healthy food that much and my mum was also concerned because she usually cooks for me at some points so she thought I didn’t enjoy her original dishes anymore.…

CS Ia- Upon reviewing the weekly menu I found that the menu was well balanced with all the components included. They offer a wide variety of proteins, vegetables, and fruits as well as a daily serving of dairy and starch. However, I found the menu to not be very child friendly. If I were in charge of the menu I would offer a more child friendly menu to the children with items that they are more likely to eat while still keeping the meals healthy. I would add entrees such as spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, sandwiches and ravioli’s. I would also try and offer more common vegetables to the children like corn, green beans, broccoli and carrots. Another change I would make is to switch up the starch a little and offer them brown rice and potatoes.…

Last year I was prit near 375 lbs and I knew something had to give. I have tried, low fat, low cal, counting macros and everything. I always still would gain! I would eat veggies and lean meat keeping under 1200 calories sometimes 800 when frustrated, I'd still wake up weighing more. Well to be honest, I believe the food pyramid is very, very inaccurate. I sometimes watch shows like my 600 lb life, for motivation for myself, because I need it still! I was to a point in my life I couldn't walk or stand more than 5 minutes! I'd have to sit on a chair to do dishes, I felt useless anymore honestly. One day something clicked and I seen a friend who posted about her 210 lb weight loss and started to read. I was blown away! I started it and I won't lie, I went out with a bang! Made a huge chocolate cake 13x9 and we ate half of it. I canned the rest. Within the first 3 days I was 5 lbs down! I couldn't believe it, without any exercise! People say oh you can't do that, but you can! You simply have to eat the RIGHT foods! 60% carbs isn't for us! That's what was set up by a group of people who think they know everything! They don't! But anyways if you want to learn how to eat the correct macros and learn to lose weight without worry, then this is for you! Ooh you have to give up some things! But tell yourself YOU'RE WORTH IT! I know what it feels like to hurt everyday and not be able to function and go out to the store cause you just cannot walk.…

If I were thinking of a diet, I would choose Jenny Graig’s program. Even though Weight Watchers has great programs such as recording meals and snacks in a paper, I do not think this would work. The main cause of people getting fat is they cannot control to eat properly. In this program, people prepare their own meals so it might not be successful on diet. On the other hand, members’ meals are prepared by Jenny Graig and they meet a personal counselor weekly. In this program, a diet plan can change, depending on people. I would say Jenny Graig’s program is much easier to have diets because food is limited.…
