Vellore Woods Dentist Case Study

My work place is at Vellore Woods Dentistry located at 9565 Weston Rd, Woodbridge, ON L4H 3A5. This institution is owned by a dentist who goes by Dr. R.Goodfellow. He opened this dental office from 2006, wanted to help his clients have satisfying teeth and to help them learn more about their mouth in general. He used to work at Shoreham Dental. It was a small building which is why he came he moved and created Vellore Woods Dentistry to expand his company. He is currently learning different methods to fix teeth’s, learning different types of skills to apply medical aid to his clients, and developing his performance in working with the teeth. My division in this work place is a dental assistant, helping the other assistant, hygienists, dentist and receptionists when needed. The work environment is sometimes extremely busy. I have been told that Wednesdays are always the busiest days they have, they would have numbers of clients coming in and out for their teeth to be cleaned or to be fixed. Vellore Woods Dentistry is useful for the community, society and economy. Without this dental placement, clients would have a hard time knowing what their problem with their teeth is, such as a serious infected tooth. The dentist’s needs to pull that tooth immediately because it would cause damage to the gums and possibly the other teeth’s. The other thing is that not everyone knows what TMJ is, some dentist in the region won’t know either. That’s why we need Dental institution near our area to get immediate tension. Without it people would have a hard time getting help and not being able to know what the cause of the pain in their mouth is. The target market for this institution are 3-4 years old and up. We want to treat their teeth to be healthy and strong in order to do that we need to get them to have appointments for cleaning, x-rays, and many more. The tasks I am doing in the dental office is learn about the mouth structure and potential diseases, learn about different procedures performed in the mouth, observe the different careers being performed in the workplace, disinfect chairs as soon as patient leaves the room, inspect floors in the lab at all times for spills and any dangerous items to ensure safety in the workplace, assist cleaning the lab, sterilize equipment and instrument after each use, be able to operate sterilization machine, prepare trays and equipment’s for different procedures, re-stock shelves when needed, assist coworkers with work, help file charts and takeout charts for the next day, and ask question when in doubt. The task are very important to perform such as sterilization. I have to take preventive measures to avoid spread of germs and diseases among the staff and clients. I have gained a good understanding of the role of an assistant and their duties. The ideas to improve my skills is to try to be more reliable, I have to help as much as possible around the workplace, be more independent, gain more confidence, develop more understanding of the mouth, and communicate more. These tasks would help me boost up my courage and I will be able to fill full these skills. It’s a great pleasure working there so far. This learning that I have gained
