NAME: KGWATALALA THABANG
SUBJECT: TOURISM
STUDENT NO: 1152
GRADE: 11(KEY 6)
TOPIC: CONFERENCE TOURISM
YEAR: 2014

1.1 Introduction
Gauteng is one of the nine provinces of South Africa. It was formed from part of the old Transvaal Province after South Africa's first all-race elections on 27 April 1994. It was initially named Pretoria-Witwatersrand-Vereeniging (PWV) and was renamed "Gauteng" in December 1994. It is situated in the Highveld. The aim of my report is to convince the committee to award Gauteng the bid to host the conference in 2015.
Gauteng can offer local offering which is a short walk away from the SWF is Soweto Outdoor Adventures, which offers bungi-jumping, quad-biking, paint-ball games and other exciting activities. Soweto Outdoor Adventures is part of a broader collective called SoWeToo, an exciting collective of small tourism businesses within the township. SoWeToo has developed “the Red Taxi” which links up with the Red Bus, otherwise known as the Hop On-Hop-Off Bus.
This new addition to the Jo’burg cityscape is a unique and original day tour which links points of interest in the city, including Gautrain Park Station (where the route starts), Constitution Hill, the Apartheid Museum and Gold Reef City, where adventurous people can hop off and hop into the red taxi bound for Soweto.
The other unique selling point that is bringing the City Centre alive is Maboneng, meaning a “ a place of light” a Jo’burg inner city precinct that promotes urban renewal through art galleries, restaurants, a vibrant flea market and Salsa Sunday- places and events that are getting people to celebrate Jo’burg’s core with pleasure and pride

Individual businesses must work in partnership with other organisations in order to be successful. Tourism is a very competitive and complex sector and many companies develop links with other businesses as a way of maximising profits. If for example Thomas cook didn’t work with other hotels, insurance companies, company picks up on arrival, Thomas cook wouldn’t make any profits, as customers wouldn’t want to book a holiday with a company who don’t take out insurance, which if an accident happened they would have thousands to pay with no compensation. Also if customers were to book with a company who didn’t book with certain hotels, you could end up anywhere without any information about it. Whereas if Thomas cook have interrelationships with hotels they are more likely to be safer and nicer hotels, meaning customers trust Thomas cook knowing the hotel is good one. This increases profit due to more repeat purchases.…

Not to mention the latest most-talked theme park in Bandung namely “Trans Studio Bandung”. It is the perfect theme park for both adults and children. The place is designed so creatively like a city and most importantly, it is indoors! Not many theme parks are indoors. Therefore, visitors will not have to worry about the weather and able to have fun until the end of the day. How great it is. Moreover, children can also learn at the same time, since in the ‘Science Centre’, visitors are allowed to see many experiments and unique science facts that most people need to know. Like the different densities of different objects and liquids, and how we can have colorful shadows. There are also extreme rides like roller coaster, “Vertigo”, “Dragon Rides”, and “Giant Swing”. They are the heart-pounding rides that will make some of the visitors scream at the top of their lungs. At the end of the day, if you wish to remember the spectacular experience, visitors can always buy the…

South Africa turned to be different from any place I had visited so far because of its fun recreational activities. It turned out to be an attractive and gorgeous country, being smaller than Texas it has a great deal of variety on recreational activities like kite boarding, hiking, trout fishing and going to beaches. The Margate beach also known as the South Africa ‘Miami Beach’ on the south coast appeared unexpectedly well groomed, the sun shining super bright to get you in the mood of a great day, kite boarding, and a couple of volleyball courts to play beach volleyball. I could smell the slightly typical mouldy seaweed that was caressing the sand. The beach also has lots of palm trees and warm water provided by the Indian Ocean as a result you could lots of people sunbathing. I really liked this place because of its nature and sites that were available.…
