Santa Claus: The Existence Of Santa
Childhood was a time period in my life that had involved countless disillusionments. One of the disillusionments being the existence of Santa Claus, which had been set up by my parents. With endless movies based on Santa, the media also had been a substantial factor in my belief of this fictional character. With this disillusionment came disappointment when I had come to a realization that Santa is in fact a fictional character.
It was Christmas Eve in the city of Vancouver, in the year of 2008. I had woken up to an absolutely magnificent view of the untouched snow surfacing the soccer field across the street. As the day went on and the sun had started to set, my father had begun to recite his annual Christmas stories. Most of his stories were based on Santa only giving out gifts to children that behaved themselves throughout the whole year. Just as his final story had finished, I started to pour milk into a glass and lay out a few Oreo cookies by the Christmas tree. After doing so, I was on my way to bed as my father was telling me that all the cookies would disappear by the next morning. I didn’t think much of it and tried going back to sleep but was unable to do so. I got out of my bed to go downstairs for a drink of water and on my way down the stairs I heard the floors creak in the living room. Believing it was Santa, I tried sneaking into the living room and as I got there I saw him standing by the Christmas tree with the glass of milk in his hand. I turned on the light and jumped out and yelled “Santa Santa Santa” and to my surprise it was my father, whose mouth was filled with Oreos, and not
