3.0 RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
3.1 RESEARCH DESIGN
The researcher used survey metod to carry out research at her stated station of study and as a result of this the reseaecher 's aim was to know how filing has contributed to some of the information centres more so libraries.
3.2 TARGETED POPULATION
The researcher aimed the users and staff members of the Kenya National Library service, Kisii branch.She interviewed 20% of users and 10% staff members from a total of 12500 library members and 20 staff.
3.3SAMPLE DESIGN AND PROCEDURES
The researche used stratified random sampling to collect data from the field of study.This is a type of random sampling that includes surveying a selected group of subjects from a large group of people.The sample was divided into groups that is library users and staff members.The library users and staff members were seleceted randomly.The reseacher used this method because it produces results that are both unbiased and accrate,it is the best way to obtain results that reflect the diversity nof the population in question and produces data that is more representative of the entire npopulation.
3.4DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES
The researcher used interview schedules where she interviewed the respondents orally aiming to get the required information.Here accurate and reliable information is collected.The researcher also used quistionnaires in getting information.She prepared a list of questions relating to the problem under investigation.The questionnares were distributed to both staff members and users.Observation lists were also used where the researcher utilized the observation checklist to record what she obsrved from users and staff members.She managed to see how the uers handled records in the library.
3.5 DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis will depend on the type of data being collected by researcher.In this area statistical devices and their formulas are the primary source of analysis for instance,iot can be measures of central
