Presidential Advertisement Argument Paper The campaign that I chose is about a girl breaking up with Obama, which is supposed to symbolize America breaking up with Obama. The main idea of this campaign was to say that Obama isn’t who he said he would be and hasn’t done the things he promised during his first presidential campaign. The purpose of this advertisement is to persuade America to “break up” with Obama and not reelect him for a second presidential term. The main reason for this advertisement is to show its audience that Obama isn’t doing his job and that his time is up. The lady in the commercial is supposed to symbolize voters leaving Obama. While the card board cut out of Obama is acting as her boyfriend that she is leaving. In the advertisement she lists multiple reason of why she is leaving. At the end of the commercial it goes on to say that the Republican National Committee is responsible for the advertisement and encourages voters to go to a website to voice their reason for why they are “breaking up” with Obama. The advertisement gives many reasons supporting its main idea of “breaking up” with Obama. The lady in the commercial says that he isn’t doing his job and gives the audience examples to prove her stance. She says that he’s constantly out with celebrities, then goes on to name a few occasions of when he was. She says, “You think I didn’t see you with Sarah Jessica Parker and George Clooney”. Another reason she gives us is when she tells us that he’s constantly on the golf course and that the jobs council says that, “He hasn’t shown up for six months”. The final reason she gives us in the advertisement is that his spending is out of control. These reasons all support the thesis by showing the audience that Obama hasn’t done the job that he promised us four years ago. The opposing side could propose many counter arguments for all the reasons of why Obama has been doing those things; while straying away from the idea that he hasn’t

    Carrie Underwood has many famous songs, one of which being "All-american Girl", which is included in this advertisement and phrases can be heard in the background such as “his heart belongs to that sweet, little, beautiful, wonderful, perfect All-American girl”. Hearing these words can create a sentimental feeling for many women as they envision a little girl growing up with a strong bond to her father as she meets the ups and downs of life. As Underwood speaks about the product, she speaks right to the audience in a genuine and passionate manner, which is convincing because it seems as if she really uses the brand herself and is not just relaying her lines.     The repetition of “he lies” is said throughout the advertisement to make it seem like the father is at fault for “lying” to his daughter. This adds even more sympathy towards the family in the commercial. The tone of the daughter's voice plays a huge role in the feel of the commercial. In the first half, she is happy and full of joy to have such a great father. The tone takes a complete turn when she starts listing off the reasons why he is lying to her; the little girl is no longer happy, but more sad and shameful.
