Donald Trump Attack Advertising
Another form of advertisement is an attack record. In these ads, a candidate attacks their opponents for their views. Hillary does so with her ad “mirrors” where young girls are filmed looking at themselves in the mirror and on their phones as sad music plays while you can hear and see all of the negative things Donald Trump has said about women such as "I'd look right in that fat ugly face of hers," "She's a slob" and "She ate a like a pig.” This shows Donald Trump in an extremely negative light and makes him look bad to those who view the ad. Hillary has another attack ad called “what he believes” with the same things Donald Trump said, panning across the screen, ending with the words “he’s unfit to be president”. The only downside to attack ads are that they are overused and full of distortion. …show more content…
Ridicule ads are used to make fun of a candidate making them look so ridiculous that the credibility of the opposing candidate is questioned and the negativity discussed is masked by humor. Although there were no ridicule ads aimed at Donald Trump there were many ads in her support that made remixes of songs with the addition of Donald Trump saying “wrong”. I think that Hillary did a great job of employing the various types of advertisements in her campaign, specifically an abundance of negative advertisements towards Donald Trump. Although many people say that they do not like negative advertisements, “research suggests that they are effective and today a vast majority of television political ads are negative” (textbook 136). The abundance of negative ads allowed Hillary to cast doubt on Trump’s ability to be an adequate president due to their memorability and the fear she used to inflict on
