Rockland Community College offers credit and non-credit courses exploring numerous ethnicities, religions and cultures, as well as a wide variety of foreign languages. Outside the classroom, the College celebrates diversity through several of heritage celebrations and a wide variety of student clubs.
Many of these heritage events are free and also offered to the public. The events feature guest speakers, musical and dance performances, art exhibits, interactive workshops, panel discussions, holiday celebrations and more. The College welcomes multi-ethnic diversity and encourages students to get involved with other cultures while attending heritage events.
Ethnicities consist of traits, background, and association. This is great how they have many different options with multiple races involved. Also, offering noncredit courses for such students as myself, starting with an English class to strengthen my skills was a great option to have available. All ethnicities here at Rockland are treated equally and have access to the same opportunities. This is shown as various types of classes are offered and the public gatherings with all ethnicities continue with success.
Other universities can be seen racist while not offering all students the same options. York University located in Canada accepted a motion of boycotting Israeli products, companies that do business in Israel, and even boycott on Israeli academics. This eliminates Israeli students to earn their education through York University.
Its Ontario President, Sid Ryan (known for his extreme political views) said, “We are ready to say Israeli academics should not be on our campuses unless they explicitly condemn the university bombing and the assault on Gaza in general.”

There was a great deal of new information about diversity available during this course. There was never had much of a chance to learn about other cultures considering the current environment. Growing up in Salt Lake City Utah, which is almost entirely Caucasian, particularly in the more wealthy areas, diversity in cultural and racial systems was almost non-existent. The area is also not very mixed religiously, being almost entirely dominated by the Mormon Church. People of the catholic faith are in the minority in the area. This can give a point of view on discrimination that is not as common among Caucasian males as it is among females and people of other races in the United States.
