My Favourite Subject At School
My Favourite Subject at School I must say that I study at an ordinary secondary school in a small town in Vitebsk region. It's common knowledge that we study many different subjects at school. Well, I can't say that I like all of them or that I'm really good at all of them. In fact it's much more pleasant for me to speak about the subjects I like best. My favourite subjects are humanities, English in particular. I began to study English on a regular school basis when I was in 4-th form. It was exciting and easy to learn English at that time by playing games and singing songs. The first lesson, first month passed. Our optimism and courage disappeared and a real job began. An English proverb says: ' There is no royal road to learning ' and that's true. No doubt it's necessary to work hard every day to master English. Any language is like music. It's requires every day training. As we grew older our English lessons became more instructive and serious. Much attantion was paid to grammar, writing all kinds of tests, speaking and listening. Frankly speaking, getting ready for the English lessons takes a lot of time because only working hard you can make progress in foreign language. And I quite agree with the English proverb: ' No cross, no crown '. No doubt much depends on a teacher. I can't help telling you about our teacher of English who devoted all her energy and talent to making us speak good English. She is tolerant with us, pupils. Her lessons are always catching and instructive. She often brings pictures, book and magazines making our English lessons very interesting. It goes without saying that there is mutal understanding between our teacher and most of the pupils. I'm very grateful to our English teacher for making us learn English both in class and at home. She did her best to convince us that learning foreign languages is a strong requirement of modern life. She says that every educated person should speak at least

In seventh grade, I began analyzing and breaking down articles, and this was the first time we did something that was not centered on grammar and spelling. By this time I felt that my English classes in school were not good enough to fulfil the level of English I wanted, so on the weekends I started to attend classes at a private English institute. In my English Institute class in Paraguay, I was expected to read, write, and practice answering exams in English and, additionally, it was exceptionally supportive for me since I could learn the proper sounds for every word. On a side note, there was a Chess Institute close to the English institute, so I additionally began taking chess…

Even though the various exceptions alarmed me, I persisted in learning because I knew that English is widely used around the globe. After comprehending most of the concepts, I began to acknowledge the importance of English and the difference it could make on my future.…

Throughout my years in High School I enjoyed having core subjects in English and I always remember Mr. Jones who was my English Teacher in 10th and 11th grade. He never spoke a word in Spanish and if you dare ask a question in Spanish he would ask you to pause, think and formulate your question in English. It was a good experience for my classmates who were making an effort to learn the language but at the same time afraid to make mistakes. Mr. Jones said many of you are fluent in English some aren’t that fluent but, one thing is truth: there is always room for improvement. It was motivating to know that we all had to communicate in English during class and for group assignments which allowed collaborative learning.…

Things from there started to change. Little by little I was able to learn the language. I became familiarized with the morphology and phonology of the English language. Although, syntax which is basically grammar and semantics which is the study of words were much harder to learn (Wright, 2010). I think that I will always experience a bit of trouble with the English language. It’s something that the only thing I can do, is keep learning.…
