Medical Career Personal Statement
I am interested in this camp because my passion is healthcare and I love learning about it and being involved with it as much as possible I spend a large amount of my time learning about medical specialties and careers. I took two medical related classes this past school year (my junior year). They were Medical Terminology and Intro to Health Careers. Medical Terminology allowed me to learn more anatomy and pathology; Intro to Health Careers introduced me to some careers I may have never thought about before.
Up until this year, I had my heart set on going to medical school and becoming a surgeon. After taking health are classes and learning some responsibilities of other careers, I now know I have more options. I am currently looking at nursing schools to become a nurse anesthetist, which is another career I am intrigued by.

I have excelled in all science classes I have taken; including Biology I Honors, Biology II for dual college credit, Chemistry I, and AP Chemistry. Science, especially Health Science is my favorite and best subject.
I also hope this program can help me meet new people who share similar interests. I have been determined to be in the field of medicine for as long as I can remember, so it is nice to know others as driven as I am and also be able to discuss classes we share or future careers.
I have always known that I want to have a career in the medical field, but a future major is still undecided. This program could help me determine exactly what I would like to do for the rest of my

The opportunity to be a part of the Sophomores-Serve program is one of the most exciting that I have encountered. As someone anticipating a career in medicine I am very interested in integrating science and community service. My academic experience thus far has centered on lectures where it can be hard to take what is being taught and apply it to the outside world. With this program, I believe I will be able to not only learn about something I am interested in, the food environment, but also improve my ability to practically use my knowledge to improve the surrounding world.…

Doctor Academy has many opportunities that is helping me to figure out what career choices I want to explore and what college I wanted to attend. One way that Doctor Academy help me is when they get me involved in things that I am not used to doing, like having myself do a 13 page research, and shadowing a doctor. They will take us to different college, so we can see if that were we want to attend, and to see the kind of majors and help they have there. And help us to get in place that others student can’t. Those in the healthcare profession are respected, hardworking individuals who went above and beyond to prove themselves capable of helping others in the greatest way possible. My career goals are very straightforward. I’ve taken several steps in high school to accomplish these goals by being well disciplined in my studies, and participating in a Health Careers Internship Program. This program offers me a variety of opportunities that make me a more applicable in a healthcare setting. I’ve learned how to build a strong résumé and cover letter, and how do professional interviews well. We also get the chance to observe and participate in a medical environment. I’ll be shadowing with Dr. Steve Carr at Northern Star Therapy and learn the basics of physical therapy. I’ve done also done volunteer work in a Geriatric setting, at the St. Benedict nursing home in St. Cloud. My plans following high school are to attend the University of Minnesota in the College of Biological Sciences. My hopes are to complete my undergraduate in there in the Pre-Medicine program, attend graduate school, and specialize in a currently undecided field of…

I want to be a part of HSTE II because in the future I want to be a doctor. Right now I’m not very sure about what kind of doctor I want to be that is why I really want to be in this program so that I can experience all the parts in a hospital and find what kind of areas in the medical field that I’m really interested in, and which ones just don’t fit me and my interests. I don’t want to choose a path that I will end up regretting just because I don’t enjoy what I do. I am a person who loves to help and care for people, especially the people who really need the help, and I am a very quick learner. I always try to put myself in other person’s position because believe in the saying “Treat others the way you would like to be treated”. I intend to bring these major qualities of mine to the HSTE II class/clinical rotations because I think it is very important for someone in the medical field who attends to other people when they are at their lowest and weakest point to have these…

"Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow"-Jim Kelly. Growing up residing in a small, under populated rural area I noticed how my community lacked access to health facilities and providers. Noting that this was a necessity to have, yet so scarce, I decided that being a health care provider was the career for me. I grew up always surrounded by the health care setting; my mother was a Lab Technician who worked with several Physician Assistants. I was often in her office during after school hours of my elementary/middle school years.…

“Curiosity is one of the permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous intellect.” The curiosity that Samuel Johnson refers to in this quote is something that I feel itching at me every day, especially since I have begun my journey in the world of medicine. Through my experiences, I have realized that Internal medicine is the field in which I will be able to use my compassion towards others, not only to help them, but also to constantly nourish my own curiosity for medical knowledge.…

I learned about this program long before I even entered high school, and although I dearly wished to attend since my freshmen year , the lack of money kept me from doing so. When I found out that BISD was giving a few of us the chance to have the full experience of NHI with having to pay no expenses, I was overwhelemed with joy. I am aware of the impact that this program can have on you, and I want nothing more that to attend. I too, like many others that have already, want to be touched and moved by the immense amount of knowledge and wisdom that I know I can gain from this program .Interacting with other students like myself that are eager to learn more about themselves and about their future seems like an ideal way to spend part of my summer.…

What drew me to enroll into the medical coding program is the fact that I find the health care world to be fascinating. I started my career in the legal field and dealt with worker’s compensation and tort cases which involved getting the medical records of the clients and reviewing them to make sure we received the medical records that pertained to the accident or injury. When my legal career ended, due to the lawyer I worked for becoming the Mayor of Haverhill, I found employment in the health care field, and I have been in the health care field for six years. I started out as a Care Team Coordinator, which is a position that deals with the scheduling for the clinicians, running reports to track paperwork, etc.…
