Having been determined to attend UBCO for nursing, I focused on taking courses with transferable credit. Though I subsequently lightened my course load, I occupied the remainder of my time devoting myself to various volunteer opportunities with diverse client populations. I believe familiarity with the hands on aspect of nursing is as essential as my education. I maintained my grades while balancing multiple volunteer opportunities to gain priceless experience caring for individuals with varying demands. Upon admission to UBCO, I will embrace the opportunity to start a full time course load while continuing the compassion and empathy I learned.…
I think Marist is a good match for me because Marist offers many classes that will further expand my knowledge. Moreover, when I visited the Marist campus I fell in love with the feel of the campus and the atmosphere. Even though I grew up close to the campus it still feels like I'm away from home.…
Growing up I have always wanted to go to NYU. I have always known it was a very prestigious, but unlike ivy league it allowed you to grow with creativity. I feel as though there is no other university/college that fits me personally in every aspect. Though I am undecided I do know that when I am ready to pick a major there is an array for me to choose from. In addition, being a student in New York, but specifically at NYU, helps to connect to other…
Writing has never been a subject I am best at because I dislike writing because there are a lot of rules to it. ENG 101E class helped made me understand all of those rules. It has helped me in a variety of ways in gaining and sharpening skills in writing. This class taught me how to think critically by analyzing a topic from all sides.…
After attending Tarrant county college, I decided to join the Cornerstone Honors program. Over the course of a year I was exposed to the idea of being able to formulate my own ideas through rigorous course work centered, on critical thinking and analytical skills. Following the completion of the program, I was finally confident in myself as an overall person. Over the course of my first year, the Honors Texas government course had created an atmosphere where my peers and I were able to express ourselves in a positive setting and learn from each other’s perspectives. In addition, I learned to have an informed opinion about my own beliefs. As a result, I gained the confidence to run for an officer position for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.…
I chose Wheeling Jesuit University because it was brought to my attention because of the good stuff I heard about it. Wheeling…
Education 203 with Dr. Smith has been a very enjoyable and entertaining class. I really liked the teaching style, curriculum and format of the class. I have definitely had a meaningful learning experience from this class. This class has taught me about important topics in life and topics that will be significant to me when I become a teacher.…
This year, I have used my leadership skills to better my school’s National Honor Society chapter. I am an active two year member of National Honor Society, and I was elected by my peers to serve as Vice-President this year. I wanted to serve as Vice-President because I believed that the club had a lot of untapped potential. Having seen friends from other schools talk about the high standards and requirements of their clubs, I believed that my school should meet those standards as well. The four pillars of National Honor Society are Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. My school has an impressive amount of girls who qualify for NHS academically, which fulfills the Scholarship pillar. However, I knew my club could better represent…
Visiting over fifteen schools, I was told that when you found the “right” place you would know it. Ostensibly a bit whimsical, they were correct and Georgia Tech is that place. It began with being warmly greeted by students and staff during the information session. During the session, the MOVE organization, Georgia Tech’s biggest volunteer organization, intrigued me. The organization represents the best qualities I search for in people, kindness and dedication. Furthermore, the opportunities the organization offers, to truly affect change in the community, is incredible. This organization and the students I had the pleasure to meet embody and represent the Georgia Tech motto of progress and service. Moreover, it was fortuitous that there were…
Furthermore, I am an extremely congenial person and I make friends very easily. I have a very diverse group of friends at home and the fact that Marist College is such a diverse institution really attracted me. I believe this quality will aid me greatly as I participate in extra-curricular activities and try to inspire others to give the best of themselves as we learn; not only about our majors, but about ourselves as well.…
I think the mentor/mentee system could continue to improve. I had a great relationship with my mentor, and my mentee this year, but my middle years I struggled to get to know my mentees. I also think involvement within the program could be strengthened because many people cannot be involved or choose not to. More events on the weekends or in the evenings so more students can…
ASU brings together a variety of people and opens numerous opportunities for anyone willing to take advantage. Meeting some of these people and taking some of these opportunities has allowed me to learn a lot about myself this past semester. Making the big transition to a new state and a new lifestyle has taught me the importance of branching out. I have learned the benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone in order to try new things and meet new people. It helps you grow as a person and allows you to learn about your passions, likes, dislikes, etc. Being at ASU on my own has taught me a lot about responsibility. No one is there to tell you did wrong if you skip a class or miss an assignment. It is up to you to do your work while meeting…
Chapter 16 of our textbook for class, Teaching Elementary Physical Education: Strategies for the Classroom Teachers is called “Interdisciplinary Strategies for Physical Education”. I felt as though this particular chapter was very “to the point”, but that it was also packed with a lot of information that could be very useful in the classroom. This chapter was about just what the title suggests: ways that you could integrate physical education into everyday classroom activities and learning. I can definitely see myself using some of the stuff that I read about in this chapter in my future classroom.…
Another semester begins and I am off to a somewhat rocky start. Looking at this semester where I will be doing two courses CCNA 2 and Effective communication. In CCNA, I have not only grown as a network technician and a student, but as a person as well. I feel that through my experience of these Networking courses, I have gained the knowledge and confidence it takes to attack those certifications.…
