Asu Reflection
ASU brings together a variety of people and opens numerous opportunities for anyone willing to take advantage. Meeting some of these people and taking some of these opportunities has allowed me to learn a lot about myself this past semester. Making the big transition to a new state and a new lifestyle has taught me the importance of branching out. I have learned the benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone in order to try new things and meet new people. It helps you grow as a person and allows you to learn about your passions, likes, dislikes, etc. Being at ASU on my own has taught me a lot about responsibility. No one is there to tell you did wrong if you skip a class or miss an assignment. It is up to you to do your work while meeting …show more content…
In Sociology and English we learned a little about the unconscious brain and how it makes decisions for us. It appeals to our emotions and can defy our logic and reasoning. For example when someone says “homeless person” the first thought that pops into your head is probably an old man with a raggly beard, but the truth is that today’s face of a homeless person is a single mother raising her children. This is our unconscious mind at work when we think of the bearded man. The ideas behind this really cause me to think about my own beliefs and ideas I have buried in the back of my head. Courses such as sociology and english really helped me be more open two new ideas and …show more content…
There is a crowd for everyone here you just have to find it. During my time here I was able to meet some excellent rugby coaches and teammates who have helped me improve my skills and character. Our coaches alway stress the importance of commitment and how it is essential if our team wants to stay competitive. During the U of A football game we had a rugby game and our coach asked all our team members if they would be willing to skip football and make our game instead. Many of our teammates were irritated and I expected no one to show up. In the end most of our teammates showed up and I really saw how influential this team has been. It teaches about more than just the sport itself but rather responsibility, commitment, priorities, etc. Connecting with my teammates and coaches has taught me a lot here at ASU and may be the most influential thing I have done here so

Having been determined to attend UBCO for nursing, I focused on taking courses with transferable credit. Though I subsequently lightened my course load, I occupied the remainder of my time devoting myself to various volunteer opportunities with diverse client populations. I believe familiarity with the hands on aspect of nursing is as essential as my education. I maintained my grades while balancing multiple volunteer opportunities to gain priceless experience caring for individuals with varying demands. Upon admission to UBCO, I will embrace the opportunity to start a full time course load while continuing the compassion and empathy I learned.…

Housing is another impact. This is accompanied by extensive rules and regulations about visitors, off-campus trips, and curfews. I am an only child of my parents and have not shared a room in eighteen years. Living on campus and sharing a room with another is helping me to interact on a more social level with the diversity of students that are enrolled. This will definitely give me a head start for my freshman year, when more people will be here on campus. I have driven by this home college many times, but did not realize the beauty and purpose of the University of the Virgin Islands. Being on campus, have provided me with the knowledge of the campus, and have helped me to feel at home.…

An aspect of college that I have found exciting is the school pride. I expected to see everyone on campus focused on whatever it is their goal is at Polk State but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how amped up everyone got when there was a school function like club rush, spirit week, or even a basketball game. This small campus had me fooled that no one would care or bat an eye at school related activities but it seems like thats what this school thrives on, it reminds me of the same type of camaraderie you would find at FSU on a football game-day. Club rush and spirit week were the two things that got me the most excited about being a student at Polk State, not only were they bringing all the students together to mingle and make new friendships but it was fun.…

Everything that a person encounters, either physically or just by knowledge, shapes how that person behaves and respond to everyday situations. With that in mind, I can better understand myself and the people around me. These differences are what brings fresh and new interactions that colleges thrive on. Ranging from the schools I attended, the way I was raised, and even the neighborhood outside my doorstep brings different experiences for me. With these factors, I have no doubt that I would contribute to something beautiful to The Ohio State University.…

Attending the Pride friday at IUPUC before the beginning of school has been one of the most helpful events. By going to this I met some friends and learned more about the school itself. Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…

Before I came to Randolph-Macon, I was narrow-minded, not social, and was against coming out of my comfort zone. My mindset before coming to college was that I could come to college for 4 years, coming home almost every weekend, and go right back home and work on the water or work in the office of my parent’s clam and oyster company. Now I have broadened my horizons and see myself doing so much more with my life. Making it through that terrible first week of college, I realized I could make it through anything and handle anything life threw to at…

During my first year at Florida State University I plan to grow as an individual. To achieve this is not only important to fill in your head with loads of knowledge, but also to see other cultures, meet new people, discover myself, discover my weaker and/or stronger points, and squeeze my stronger abilities at my maximum to achieve my goals. I plan to help others as much as I’ve been doing until now, or even more. I believe in creating a better atmosphere where peers help each other in whatever they need. I’ve been lucky spent almost sixteen years of my life in a school where they taught me to excel by working as a team. I plan to bring these philosophy to FSU because if instead of competing with one another, we bring what we are best at to…

My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

I was able to learn that I can. I can take high school and college classes together. I can manage a social life while at CSN. I can spend countless hours of doing homework and studying without freaking out. I had to have a new understanding of my self; I had to be an adult. The people at my college did not see me as a high school student many of them did not know I attended high school. I also learned about others and how to cooperate better with other individuals. I was able to see an array of different people, something I would not be aloud to experience at a normal high school. Through countless group projects, labs, and group oriented work I was able to out my self in other peoples shoes and see the situation from another perspective.…

Marist is the best match for me. As soon as I stepped foot on Marist Campus for their tour the atmosphere had such an enthusiasm it was contagious, I felt welcomed. The School has the tools and opportunities that allows students to explore and achieve the greatness they yearn for. The programs at Marist shape their students for what the real world entails and skills to carry with them throughout life. The Abroad program and Marist In Manhattan are one of the many positive attributes that set them apart from my other choice schools. Having the opportunity to travel and embrace cultures from all around the world is a gift, to have a chance to experience the world, and create a memory of a lifetime. Just like myself, Marist and I share the same…

I had a an interview with two people. I had an interview with my fellow friend’s mother, Lazaria Foreman and my father, Mitchell Burgess. I asked both adults on their decisions on whether they went to college or not. My questions were very specific on experiences of college and not being able to attend college. One main question that I asked, which sums up this essay is “ Were you successful, life after highschool or college?” and both answers were yes.…

As I thought about what I would write for this, the first question I asked myself was: what kind of writer was I when I began this course. The answer to the question would be not a very good one. I struggled big time with grammar and punctuation when I began this class. I also struggled with my writing process. I learned quickly this year that I would not be able to just sit down and write an “A” paper without doing much prep work and tons of research on both sides of an argument. One of my biggest takeaways from Comp 101 was how to rely on my classmates for help.…
