Henry David
Henry David Thoreau once stated, “You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.” I believe that the trials and tribulations in one’s life and the manner in which he or she responds to them defines them as a person just as much as his/her successes do. Of course, using one’s failures in life as tools for learning and building character is easier said than done. However, there are unique qualities that can make this process quite simple. I possess some of these qualities and I believe that they will continue to guide me as I continue to forge my character and make my presence felt at Marist College. I believe that my positive attitude is a unique characteristic that not only benefits me but also those around me. A positive attitude can prove to be contagious at times, and I believe my optimistic and ambitious ways will inspire those around me to seek the best in themselves. I am constantly looking to turn negatives into mechanisms to learn and grow as a person. I certainly would not be in my current position or be the person I am today without the failures and speed bumps I have endured through life. I hope to help others have this same attitude as we embark on the journey to the next phase in life at Marist. Furthermore, I am an extremely congenial person and I make friends very easily. I have a very diverse group of friends at home and the fact that Marist College is such a diverse institution really attracted me. I believe this quality will aid me greatly as I participate in extra-curricular activities and try to inspire others to give the best of themselves as we learn; not only about our majors, but about ourselves as well.
I believe that everything in life happens for a reason. Successes, failures, heartbreaks, and triumphs- they all contribute to the forging of all of our individual characters. I believe that my unique personality has been a direct product of all I have learned in life, and I truly believe Marist

Most notable of David's great accomplishments is the battle between him and Goliath. Common held views of David in this battle described David as a weakling and incapable of defeating the giant Goliath. However, history has revealed this as a farce and that David was more a Goliath than Goliath. Another death ensued from his miss use of power to cover up his adulterous ways. In life, there are periods of transition in which individuals often face daunting challenges or obstacles. Overcoming these challenges at pivotal points of transition can impel the individual to develop essential character qualities and skills for surmounting adversity. My transition into high school was momentous. Here I knew that the decisions I made would likely have a strong impact on my future. With an optimistic attitude like mine, I have been able to bring light to my peers and those around me. I have noticed that my optimism has allowed me to comfort and support those I care about, such as my family and close friends. However, on a more internal level, I have learned that I can keep myself positive and motivated to push through personal obstacles, which has allowed me to excel and succeed academically. I know that I must work hard to achieve my goals, and I can only do that if I know how to stay positive and…

King Saul, was first king of Israel he was killed in a battle against the Philistines, and then David was chosen as his successor. One of David's first acts as king was the conquest of the city Jerusalem. He named it the "City of David" and declared it the capital of his kingdom. The choice of Jerusalem despite its various shortcomings which should have made it a horrible decision and most likely led to the city being attacked were its - remoteness from trade routes, chronic water shortage, unsuitable strategic location - was apparently dictated by a geopolitical constraint. The city is situated at the center of the three territorial blocs that were controlled by the twelve tribes of Israel, and it borders the territory of the Tribe of Benjamin - to which King Saul had been apart of - and on that of Judah, King David's tribe.…

People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” – Marilyn Monroe.
