Job Rotation is a management approach where employees are shifted between two or more assignments or jobs at regular intervals of time. In this case the 6 salesmen can be assigned per department and then can get shifted to other departments every 6 months. For instance as shown in the fig 6 salesmen can be assigned to the women’s apparel department for a period of 6 months, then shifted to the men’s apparel department for 6 months, following which to the other departments consecutively after every 6 months. Hence they will get trained to work in all the departments.

Position Selected:- Cashier and 6

Being that it is the retail industry, the organization main focus is to promote great customer service. Customers are the heart of the business. I recall when I got hired the store manager mentioned, “without the customers, we are nothing.” Members work either full time or part time, five days a week and are given two days day off weekly. My organization is very diversified. Workers are from all over the world e.g., Egypt, Bangladesh, Morocco, Africa and the Caribbean. Hence there is a mixture of norms, values and personal preferences. Each worker is assigned different sections and is expected to maintain their section and know everything about it to quickly assist customers in fulfilling their needs. Department stores are those retailers that carry a broad array of merchandise, such as clothing, fragrances, cosmetics, housewares, electronics and even furniture. Each class of good is sold in its own department which is headed by a buyer that runs the department. The buyer in each department has many responsibilities including selecting what goods are sold in his/her department, promotions and even hiring employees. The buyer is very important because the skill with which they perform their job can directly affect the sales volume for the department. For example, the buyer for the men’s department must stay abreast of the upcoming fashion trends for men so they offer merchandise that the consumer will want.
