Will the television still be relevant within 20 years? Discuss.

Television has become a natural part of people’s daily life nowadays but will it still be relevant in future while it is facing big threatened by other technology such as Internet? By examining how technology now play a huge market for news updates and information sources compare to television, how online advertisement cost less and has more audiences when compared to television & how television is fixed only to perform certain media, this essay will show that television will not be well and alive 20 years from now. Television (TV) is a telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images that can be monochrome (black-and-white) or colored, with or without accompanying sound. In 1927, Philo Farnsworth made the world’s first working television system with electronic scanning of both the pickup and display devices, which he first demonstrated to the press on 1 September 1928. (Farnsworth, (1906-71), Wikipedia) Since the 1950s, television has been the main medium for molding public opinion. (Brown, Barbara (2011), Strategic Public Relations: Audience Focused Practice) The availability of video cassettes, laserdiscs, DVDs and now Blu-ray Discs have resulted in the television set frequently being used for viewing recorded as well as broadcast material. In recent years, Internet television has seen the rise of television available via the Internet through services such as iPlayer and Hulu. (Television, (2013), Wikipedia) However, in 20th century, technology such as Internet plays a huge market for news updates and information sources compare to television. It happened because people nowadays can get news updates by just one click on their smart phones or tablets. At this generation, people are relying too much on Internet and technology than television. Audiences can get any information such as news updates, educational notes, statistic or
