The importance of technology in the modern world can hardly be overstated . One way or the other, technology affects almost everything we do today and it also influences most of our plans for the future . In our everyday life, we owe mass media and technology for our modern way of life. When we use a cellular phone to call our friend, watch a DVD on television, listen to songs recorded on a CD, listen to radio, surf the internet for news, read newspapers to get knowledge about the world or the magazines for entertainment or fashion, we enjoy the benefits of information communications technology.

The revolutionary developments in the mass media have changed it from the old stand-alone technologies to the new convergent technologies. One form is now a convergenceof two other forms.

We have come a long way since the time 'kabootars' were the messengers or there were 'Doots' (human messengers) or other ancient message delivery systems. Nowadays delivering a message quickly and efficiently by various forms of mass media is like a piece of cake.

Media content delivered through the television provides audio-visual appeal. With the ecommerce and social networking sites, the world has come close to us. Newspapers provide us with the detailed stories with a morning cup of tea, whereas, for the tech- savvy generation, e-papers

Social media allows people from all over the world to connect through ongoing online conversations, share stories and interests, and to produce their own media content. This also gives people the choice to upload photos and homemade videos, and share them with others around the world.The media convergence has allowed media marketers to consolidate multiple media services such as, cable connections, phone services, television transmissions, and Internet access, under one corporate umbrella. For example, when a company owns more than on media outlet they can have a reporter or producer to create multiple different versions of the same story for multiple media outlets. This helps companies to manage resources and maximize profits.…

For example, with the emergence of print came machines that were capable of mass production which then lowered the cost of books. With the production of books came the production of many other goods which in turn led to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. “With the revolution in industry cam the rise of the middle class and an elite business class of owners and managers who acquired the kind of influence formerly help only by the nobility or the clergy.” During the electronic era in 1840s came the development of the telegraph. The way the telegraph work was by dot-dash electronic signals which was a great contribution to communication. The telegraph made messages more rapid, made it easier to coordinate military operations, and it also led to other developments. The telegraph led to the “radio, the fax machine, and the cell phone, which ironically resulted in the telegraph’s demise.” Finally in the digital era, “images, texts, and sounds are converted into electronic signals that are then reassembled as a precise reproduction of, say, a TV picture.” The Internet is a major form of the digital era because billions of people access it on a daily bases. It seems like the Internet is pretty much reinventing our traditional forms of media. For example oral communication is being reinvented through e-mails and social media websites. When I was in elementary school I remember the first cell phone I saw was a medium grey phone that has a simple green background screen with black font. Couple months later, I recall my uncle buying a gray flip phone. This cell phone had a camera and had color. I thought it was way nicer then the first phone I had seen. As we see now flip phones are out, and the market hits us with more and more advanced phones. Like for example the touchscreens, androids, and the iPhone’s. As all this technology advances we want to get the latest and ask for more. Around the early 2000’s middle school students were rare to have cellphones. If we take a look now we see the elementary children even have cell phones. This has changed a lot throughout the years. My older sister which is now 23 years old never had a cell phone while living at home. I received my first phone when I was in 9th grade.
