Electric Cars Make The World Worse
Electric cars how they will make the world worse. “ Electric cars are coal powered cars. Their carbon emissions can be worse than gasoline powered cars.” Vinod Khosla. Electric cars are supposed to be the next thing for the world because people they don’t produce coal because they don’t need gas. Electric cars are bad because of refueling time , cost ,and how it affects the environment and people. The electric car takes to long to charge. The electric car takes about 1 to 8 hours to charge the car compared to a gasoline car it takes about 1 minutes to fill up a gas tank. In most city’s there are charging stations but there are not a lot of them not like a gasoline car here are about 168,000 gas stations in the US . Also electric

Tesla Motors made a huge impact on the car industry by manufacturing a fully electric-operated vehicle which caused havoc against many major car manufacturers. The innovation of being able to produce a technology that can run solely with electricity instead of gas put Tesla ahead of many gas-operated car manufacturers. Many people believe that electric cars like Tesla comes with many issues however, Tesla is working to diagnose those issues within its vehicles and slowly but surely, Tesla’s electric cars are making its way to our roads and making our environment less polluted without the gas-fumed air produced by gas-operated vehicles.…

Information (sub-point): One of the major disadvantages was the price. Generally, electric cars were significantly more expensive than their gasoline counterparts. For example, a General Motors EV1 from the late 90’s cost about $34,000 (Quiroga, 2009). With inflation adjustment, this would amount to around $52,000 today. Compared to the average cost of a vehicle from 1997 which is $16,900, that was a lot more money (“What Happened…

The biggest difference between gasoline and electric vehicles is the engine. Instead of an internal combustion engine the electric vehicle has an electric motor. Also instead of gasoline as fuel an electric vehicle uses batteries for energy. Finally, instead of injecting fuel into the motor the electric car has a motor controller that takes power from the batteries and delivers it to the motor. With different components the vehicles function differently. The accelerator pedal in an electric vehicle is connected to a pair of potentiometers which provide the signal that tells the controller how much power it is supposed to deliver. The power delivered translates to the speed of the…

I would say electric energy is the best for the environment because it can be made from a renewable resource. Electric energy does not release greenhouse gases into the environment. It is also less expensive to produce. Natural gas and propane may burn clear but it’s a fossil fuel. Electricity can be generated faster, cleaner and more often than any other alternative fuel.…

(TS)Pollution, global warming, and the price of fuel pose real problems for an auto industry churning out gas vehicles, however, electric vehicles offer hope for the future. (PS)Most electric vehicles look and perform just like a gas vehicle.(SS) For example, the electric-powered Dodge Circuit EV resembles the gas-powered Dodge Challenger.(SS) Both sport the bold look of a muscle car, And both have all the standard features such as power windows and doors, gps, air conditioning, and heating.(SS)They even perform similarly; both go from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds and perform the ¼ mile in 15.5 seconds.(PS)Electric and gas vehicles tie comes to an end coast and convenience are much better on the electric side then the opposing gas guzzling side. (SS)For example, the lithium-ion battery of the Circuit EV uses far less energy than the gas guzzling V8 engine used by the Challenger. (SS)The Circuit EV can go 150 to 200 miles between charges and costs about $6 to $12 a week in electricity; in contrast, the Challenger averages 14 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway Plus, based on the price of oil, gasoline can cost as much as $5 a gallon, and those dollars add up with the miles. (PS)The final difference is convenience. (SS) Many people and much energy must be used to refuel a gas vehicle Oil has to be refined into gasoline, stored, transported, and pumped. (SS) However, to recharge an electric vehicle, all one has to do is plug it into a standard household outlet or a socket on a charging station.(CS)Gas and electric automobiles perform similar ,however, electric is cheaper and more reliable making it the car of the future.…

Prior to this course I was unaware of just how much fossil fuel the world uses and how if we don’t improve on our consumption we will run out in the not so distant future. As fossil fuel diminishes one step that many of us might consider is reducing the amount of fossil fuels we use in our transportation needs. In this class I researched and compared and contrasted all the major electric, hybrid and standard vehicles in an effort to show readers what type of vehicle may meet there wants and or needs. Through my research I discovered the importance of car companies to continue to make advances on these electric automobiles. While writing this paper I was able to provide justification and a strong rationale in the selection of a vehicle. Lastly, there are many other solutions for example as developing different and cleaner fuels or increasing public transportation. This course has opened my eyes to many energy solutions for the future of our…

General Motors has been at the center of one of the nation’s largest controversies over clean emissions-cars. In 1996 the company introduced the EV-1 electric car in California and Arizona. Hundreds of the electric cars were soon on the road. Then they all disappeared. The mystery behind their disappearance is the subject of the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" Electric vehicles had many advantages over their competitors in the early 1900s. They did not have the vibration, smell, and noise associated with gasoline cars. Changing gears on gasoline cars was the most difficult part of driving, while electric vehicles did not require gear changes. Even though the cars seemed to be the next big thing, they ended up being not so successful.…

Electric cars cost, not so bad. The cost for electric cars may seem like a lot, but it's not. First of all, after tax credits, electric cars only cost about $20,00 which isn't a lot for car that's saving the environment. The batteries do cost a lot to replace, but they last a long time, up to ten years! Also, with an electric car there is no need for gasoline. For a full charge on for an electric car, it only costs $2.64, while the typical full tank of gasoline costs around $50. It has been shown that Americans spend from $4,000-$7,000 yearly on gasoline. One of the disadvantages is that people may have to install a charging system at home. A charging system only costs a little over a thousand dollars, but people won't be burning fossil fuels,…

Imagining the modern American society without the internal combustion engine is like thinking of the United States without the Eastern Interconnection Power Grid. Modern Transportation is such a vital part of life in Western civilizations that there is no way to live without it. First world societies have glorified the use of fossil fuels and combustion engines which emit greenhouse gasses into the Earth’s atmosphere. In addition to the high amount of greenhouse gas emissions, humans are using up fossil fuels at an alarming rate. It is pivotal that humans find a to achieve sustainable, zero emission transportation. Convincing a population to switch over to zero emission transportation will be a challenge on many levels. Transferring from conventional cars to fully electric cars is a viable and necessary action to help preserve Earth and to achieve sustainable transportation.…

The first disadvantage is the price. Electric car batteries are not cheap, and the better the battery, the more you will need to pay. For example, the Chevy volt has a 40 mile range and sells for around $30,000. Comparing that the 230 to 300 mile range of cars made by Tesia motors, which sell for anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Even though it is quite ride, science can be as a disadvantage, People like to hear cars when they are coming up behind them or besides them, and you can’t hear if an electric car is near you. This has been known to lead to accidents. Most electric cars currently on the road do not have long ranges. Although in the future it will improve, most of the cars have a range of less than 25 miles, and you can 't truly see the great benefits until you ride in a vehicle with a longer range, but most cars take a long time to recharge their batteries. The example given before Tesla motors models can recharge in 45 minutes, but the most electric cars right now take hours to charge (approximately 7- 8 hours)[5]. You can 't drive the car while the batteries are charging usually, so your car will be out of commission whilst it is plugged in. if you were on the road going on a long trip, just in case you might like to carry an extra battery, but the battery ways so much, that the speed of the car would be weighed down…

The invention of electricity, to many, can be considered one of the greatest inventions by humanity, behind writing and the wheel. From its first discovery in the 1600s till present day, electricity has fascinated the minds of scientist everywhere. Over time society has been established with a very high dependency on this commodity. Imagine our world today without electricity or any of the inventions derived from it. Modern societies would have taken a much different path. Last year the International Energy Agency conducted a survey on the energy statistics for over 30 of the more developed countries. Around 62 percent of the energy produced worldwide was created from combustible fuel source (Monthly Electricity Statistics). When combustible fuel is burned, carbon and other harmful byproducts are released into the atmosphere. This brings about environmental injustice since every living organism in contact with the atmosphere now suffers the consequences which the few benefit from. While I believe this is the more grave concern regarding electricity, the majority of the modernized world might not have an equivalent conclusion.…

Depending on the battery size, electric cars generally have a limited range before their batteries need to be recharged. Some electric cars can travel no more than 40 miles (64 kilometers) on a single charge.” Although the battery problem in these cars can be a problem, these flaws are very similar to gas if you do not put enough in. When electric cars first appeared in the late 1800’s they were more popular than any other type of vehicle. Davis claims “The first electric cars appeared in Europe during the 1880's.…
