Zappos Company
(2) key changes Zappos.com is an online clothing and shoe company or shop that is currently based in Nevada, Las Vegas. The company was founded in the year 1999 by Nick Swinmurn. The company’s initial inspiration came after he was not able to find one of his favorite pair of shoes, the air walks, at the local mall. The same year, he approached Alfred Lin and Tony Hseih with an idea of selling different types of shoes online. However, Hsieh was skeptical at first and went to the extent of deleting voice mails sent by Swinmurn (Harnish, 2012). After Swinmurn stated that the footwear in United States is a forty billion dollar market and five per cent of the market is already being sold by the paper mail order catalogs form, Lin and Hseih decided that they would invest two million dollars through their firm venture Frogs. This company was launched officially in the year 1999 in the month of June under “ShoeSite.com” as its original domain name. After some months after the company had been launched, the name of the company was then changed to Zappos from Shoe Site. The name “Zappos” means a variation of “Zapatos” which is a Spanish word meaning shoes. This was a strategy that would not limit the company to selling footwear only. In the year 2000, Venture Frogs made and addition capital investment and then allowed Zappos to relocate to its own office space (Harnish, 2012). At this time, Hsieh found out that he was having the most fun with the company and decided to come on board as the top most CEO with Nick Swinmurn. The sales of the company improved as it continued gaining market. More and more consumers were gaining interest to the company’s products which improved its sales drastically. After a minimal gross sale in the year 1999, the company brought in one and a half million dollars in revenue in the year 2000. In the

In a project, project managers do more than just putting out fires and keeping the project on track. They also innovate and adapt to ever-changing circumstances (Larson & Gray, 2012). With that said, project team members (or resources) are often assigned work outside of the project in question, and may even be involved in other projects in an organization. It is typical in the popular matrix project organization that project team members do not report directly to the project manager, but rather a functional manager. This makes it even more important that the project manager have the skills to get work accomplished through others. In the project life cycle, there will mostly be unexpected issues or concerns that can arise. When these issues or concerns surface, a Project manager must be geared up to deal with them. If project issues are ignored, they can potentially affect the upshot of the project and its completion. In the case of communication strategies in the description of this assignment (based on the textbook), the nature of the project team upon approaching the implementation is a staid, unforeseen, and a crucial one. The following predicaments have been observed, and strategies (as well as resolutions) will be conversed in this assignment:…

In an article about the financial problems of USA Today, Newsweek reported that the paper was losing about $20 million a year. A Wall Street analyst said that the paper should raise its price from 50 cents to 75 cents, which he estimated would bring in an additional $65 million a year. The paper's publisher rejected this idea, saying that circulation could drop sharply after a price increase, citing the Wall Street Journal's experience after it increased its price to 75cents. What implicit assumptions are the publisher and analyst making about price elasticity?…

Workplace romances are now one of the challenges that organizations of all sizes have to address. How they address them varies from organization to organization. Some businesses and organizations strictly prohibit them in any form or fashion, while others prohibit them when the participants are in certain roles within the organization. Some companies have chosen not to address the issue at all and others are using a more formal method of documenting and mitigating the risk they feel these relationships pose. One of the methods of documenting, and potentially mitigating, this risk is known as a consensual relationship agreement or CRA. In the text that follows I will argue for the use of CRA’s in the workplace. Secondly, I will present a counter argument for the use of CRA’s. Then we will then look at the ethical principles involved in the use of CRA’s. Lastly I will present another option that may be available for addresses these consensual relationships. There has been no change to Apple Code of Conduct policy since 2014 when Apple started taking previous audit scores into consideration and conduct detailed risk assessments with suppliers who had not been audited in the past before awarding the new business. In 2014, we reviewed 459 suppliers, and factored their responsibility performance into our decisions. This engagement has allowed Apple to address over 700 findings related to labor standards, worker safety, permits, environmental hazards, and chemical management before production began (Apple – 2014 Supplier Code of Conduct). Apple has made significant progress, gaps still exist, and there is more work to do.
