Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: Going for a walk everyday can help lose weight.

Social health: Going out on a date can help you socialize with others and help you interact with others.

Intellectual health: Attending College can help your intellectual health because you are using your brain to complete your school work.

Environmental health: Going to pick up trash in a neighborhood cleanup can help improve your environmental health.

Emotional health: When having a disagreement instead of screaming and yelling try sitting down and have a rational discussion.

Spiritual health: Read a chapter of your religious book of choice ex: Bible or Koran

Part 2

In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health.

Physical health describes such things like body size, sense response, immunity to diseases and how well you can perform day to day activities. Social health describes the ability to have relationships including being able to interact with others, being able to adapt in society, and to have correct behaviors for social situations. Intellectual health refers to clear thinking, using brain functions to meet life’s challenges, and do critical analyzing. It also refers to being able to learn from mistakes and accomplishments. Environmental health is the ability to appreciate the outdoors and being able to take steps in preserving and protecting the environment around us.
