Animal Abuse 2 Animal abuse from starvation is happening all around us and could be helped by taking the time to call and report the situation. Starvation is a very cruel form of torture that is being done to animals that are kept on chains and in fences all over the world. It is a long and painful death. Not only humans have feelings and emotions, but so do our pets as well. There are ways we can help this matter. Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal, or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Don’t despair, though—anyone can take steps against cruelty (Humane Society 2010). How does it feel to starve to death? When a person is starved to death they suffer a lot of pain. They have bad stomache pains, bad headaches, their arms and legs cramp from not eating, and they try to cry out from the pain but they can't shed any tears because there is no fluid in their body. A person can live 10 to 14 days without food and water. Eventually they will go in to a comma right before death. Their kidneys will shut down and then from there own everything in the body starts shutting down (Health and Wellness, Jasmine Starr, 2006).
So if a person feels the pain and suffering from starvation an animal will feel the same pain but cannot tell anyone what they are feeling. Animals have emotions just like we do.
It is probably safe to say that we have all noticed emotions from our pets.

But they usually try the “cheap” route which is only the cheaper choice at the moment. Humans are fine to show love and affection, but pets are even better. The only problem is, pets show a tremendous affection, and in the article “Why A Man’s Best Friend Is A Man’s Best Friend” it says,“Children often turn to their pet for comfort if a friend or a family member dies or leaves the family. Grieving adults who did not have a close source of human support were also found to have less depression if they had a pet”(Drs. Foster & Smith Educational Staff). Dogs know exactly how their human is feeling 99% of the time and if they do not know, they are always trying to figure it out. In “Huffington’s Post” they said, “Dogs are very attuned to humans' moods, which makes them a good gauge of what we're feeling. They're "an emotional barometer. Dogs have been domesticated for about 12,000 years," he says. "One of the things that research has shown is dogs have learned over these years, perhaps better than any other being, how to read our nonverbal behavior." (Klein,…

For example: when sheep see an approaching human they will start to feel fearful or if an approaching human is carrying a bag of grains for them to eat then they will start to feel happy because they know that they are about to eat. Drake believes that people who believe that animals do not have feelings or emotions are just trying to find an excuse not to feel bad about the horrible things that we do to animals to be able to harvest their bodies for food. “If a creature has no feelings, it can feel no pain,” Drake explains is the common cliché phrase that humans use to make themselves feel better about the harmful things we do to animals as a society (248). The feeling of happiness sheep feel when a human is bringing them food is not because of the human, but it is that the human is bringing them. Bummer lambs, which cannot be brought up by their mothers, are bottle-fed and are most commonly known to display happy emotions when their bottles are being brought to them. The bummer lambs start to become hostile and resentful when it’s human starts to wean it from its bottle. Drake has “seen weaned bummers use a resentful kind of body language that…

It really doesn’t matter what type of animal it may be it can be a farm animal, a pet, or even a wildlife animal. Any of these victims can suffer terribly. This is also referred to as animal neglect. This includes starvation, dehydration, inappropriate living conditions, inadequate shelter, unable to seek medical attention when needed, and many others. Anything that can cause pain and suffering to an animal is animal neglect. Because many don't realize this, this is one of the biggest problems in the U.S. 6-8 million pets are euthanized in animal shelters each year, nearly half are never found a good home and put to sleep. Millions of pets a year are abandoned and die of starvation, dehydration, or injury. Just remember, just like humans, animals need constant love and attention to live a happy health…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

Animal cruelty is a pressing subject in today’s society. Even though we use animals for their fur, entertainment, research and as food, we have to do it in a humane way that minimizes pain and suffering towards the animal in use due to animal rights laws that have been enacted. Small organizations such as the ALB (Animal Liberation Brigade), CAFT (Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade), COK (Compassion Over Killing), FoA (Friends of Animals), FFA (Fight For Animals), IDA (In Defense of Animals), LCA(Last Chance for Animals) MFA (Mercy for Animals), and larger more well known organizations like the WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals), ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and the Humane Society of the United States help to prevent and rescue victims of animal abuse. Animals are usually abused due to the fact that they cannot speak about the wrongs done to them and they cannot call out for help. Not just animal abuse is wrong, but any sort of abuse is immoral overall.…

Animal cruelty is wrong I don’t know how or why people do it, there innocent animals, they are a life they have feelings like us they feel pain, it’s cruel on so many levels. They cannot scream out in pain or talk to anyone to help them. Just because animals can't talk that doesn't mean that they don't have things to say, and it surely doesn't mean that they don’t have feelings. I also believe that animals deserve to live according to their own natures, without harm, abuse. Animal Neglect and abandonment are the most common forms of animal cruelty found in the United States. If you have…

Because animal cruelty has had such a negative impact policy makers have decided to act in favor of protecting our animals. The Animal Welfare Act (AWA), enacted in 1966, protects animal lives as it argues that they are equally as important as humans. The AWA grants the animal the right to positive quality of life while being used for research purposes. The notion of animal rights is “the idea that some, or all, non-human animals are entitled to the possession of their own lives and that their most basic interests—such as the need to avoid suffering—should be afforded the same consideration as similar interests of human beings” (“Animal rights”). As humans, there are certain laws and securities we are afforded to protect us from harm and experimentation.…

Whether an animal did something to make you mad or upset, you are going through a rough time, or simply just because you want to, animal abuse is wrong in every way and our society should have more stringent laws against it. Many people take animals for granted and animal abuse is something people see and hear about all of the time, yet in today’s society people tend to turn a blind eye on it.
