I now eat at least one vegetable a day, drink 8 glasses of water and have oatmeal to start each day. I now do yoga at least 3 times a week, ride my bike everyday during the week and also lift weights on days that I take yoga in the wellness center. Through use of meditation and pranayama I manage the stress that life presents, I also have stopped drinking caffeinated beverages which helps keep me calm and relaxed. I now eat a wider variety of fruits and vegetables. Eating a larger variety of these beneficial fruits provides my body with all the natural energy and minerals it needs to effectively operate. I also learned that the more processed a food is the less beneficial it is to your health, and as such have eliminated eating highly processed foods that contain high fructose corn syrup. Making sure your body attains all the nutrition and vitamins it needs is essential in leading a healthy life. Eating nutrient and vitamin dense foods will have an immediate and lasting effect on my body. Fast food is easy and accessible, eating healthy foods takes planning and as such it takes a commitment by the person trying to eat more beneficial foods. I currently pack fruits and nutrient dense snacks with me each day I leave my house, this ensures I avoid eating bad snacks like chips and soda. As an Air Force veteran my psychical fitness regiment was already established and as such required little augmentation, I have recently added a yoga practice to my physical fitness program. By adding yoga to my fitness program I also gained the peace of mind that is achieved through meditation and pranayama practice. Eating a balanced diet will lead to a regular digestive cycle that provides me the fuel I need each day. Regular exercise will keep my muscles strong and mobile. Finally mediation and pranayama will keep my mind nimble and active. By implementing theses three changes I plan to live a long and prosperous

After keeping track of the food I have been eating I realized that I should eat healthier to come in parallel with my active “new life.” I decided to incorporate different fruits into my plates and more vegetables. The other thing that I do not do well to take care myself is lack of exercises. As a busy university life, I have become lazy to do exercise as there are too many others things to do. In the other hand, I sleep late and cause me to wake up late, so there is no time for me to do exercise in the morning. Furthermore, with the afternoon class, I came home around 6 o’clock. At that time I am already exhausted so I prefer stay at home and rest rather than going out to do exercises. As result, I am only doing exercise once a week which is indeed insufficient for me to have a healthy life style.…
