The hurried speech of the youths reflected their energy, excitement and haste, “GuyGodthis is perfect, thisisthis is perfect…” The misspelling of teacher-erz made the speaker real and close, I could almost hear him. I noticed and liked the abrupt short sentences after long ones: “Like that” and “So we did”. It made me stop and think.…

Well-told story: Lynda Barry’s essay provides a looking-glass into her past to which she is informing her readers on what exactly influences her decision to become a cartoonist/author. Barry addresses the conflict’s she comes to face while trying to determine her place as a writer. Future values help companies determine how much money invested today is worth in the future, and how much dividends will be worth. This is important to the companies to determine how to plan for the future. Present values determine how much a given amount of money in the future is valued at today. An example would be dividends. A company will use this to know how much money they will need to have to pay dividends to stockholders and still be able to conduct business as usual.…

So, with this in mind, this writing assignment is a “transition” assignment, in which you explore methods of creating texts, thinking about the five-paragraph essay method (if you’ve used it in past courses), and the methods discussed by the authors you read in the first few weeks of class (Lu, Orwell, Tyler, Lamott), as well as methods of writing you’ve been taught or used in past courses. The event that was being held was in the romita auditorium, in which they watched a documentary known as the 13th. I didn't attend the actual event but I did participate in watching it on netflix. The 13th is an american documentary by Ava Duvernay that was centered around race and the criminal justice system in the United States. This extraordinary and informative documentary completely changed my entire mindset. I always was confident that I was woke, in the sense that I was very aware about black issues and how african americans have been discriminated against and wrongfully convicted for hundreds of years. But actually watching this shed light on all the things I wasn't ever aware of. It's all in the title 13th, refers to the 13th…

The School has the tools and opportunities that allows students to explore and achieve the greatness they yearn for. The programs at Marist shape their students for what the real world entails and skills to carry with them throughout life. The Abroad program and Marist In Manhattan are one of the many positive attributes that set them apart from my other choice schools. Having the opportunity to travel and embrace cultures from all around the world is a gift, to have a chance to experience the world, and create a memory of a lifetime. According to Baker (1982), the notion of becoming a writer had flickered off and on in my head since the Belleville days, but it wasn’t until my third year in high school that the possibility took hold. I attended a Winter Recital and played for everyone at a church. In the beginning of the school year, I was in the Girls’ Soccer Team, during that time I was still playing for Rancho Cordova Soccer Club.
