Write an Essay About an Accident Your Witnessed
Friendly letter to your friend describing a street accident you witnessed
My dear Name,
I often read in the newspapers of street accidents. So far I had not been an eye-witness to any such accident. But yesterday I chanced to see such an accident with my eyes. I took place very near our house. I was then in a shop on Raja Subodh Mullick Road. A state Bus was running towards Garia. The driver overtook a rickshaw. But he faced a handcart. He tried to avoid a collision with the handcart and swerved to the left and run a shop. It was not strongly built. It was a totally demolished. In this accident ten people were injured. The police came very soon. The ambulance was informed. The ambulance car came. Three persons were admitted to hospital and the rest were given first aid on the spot.
The bus driver was arrested. The accident occurred in a highly congested area. The road is not wide. There shops on both sides. There is no pavement on either side. So passers-by have to use road. In the circumstances the diver ought to drive their cars very carefully. On no account they should try to overtake any vehicle. In this particular case the driver was solely responsible for the accident. I was on the right side of the road. If the car had swerved to the right, it might have run into the shop in which I was sitting. So I thank my star that it did not. But I feel for the innocent persons who had been injured and admitted to hospital. May they come round soon?
Yours sincerely,
Name

It is noted that it is a 'sharp clear night' and a street as big as Sauchiehall Street should be well lit but still the drivers pass by and ignore what they see. It has been said that 'there's no such thing as an innocent bystander'; I think that this is what Edwin Morgan is trying to point out to us. He is reflecting on how more people in this 'high-tech' age are forgetting that there are people around them that feel the same things that they do. A lot of people live one-track lives and do not look to either side to help others; just like the drivers who 'keep their eyes on the road' and refuse to look to the pavement and help the young people who are so obviously in trouble. I feel sorry for the couple, anger towards the youths and annoyance with the two drivers.…

At the beginning of the trip the lawyer entered the bus. The driver was worried that such a large man would fit through a small door yet he expertly squeezed through the narrow crack boasting of his ability to fit through anything. One of the passengers snickered. Once he entered he paused to slick back his hair. Then he straightened out his suit which was extremely peculiar. His suit from one side it looked blue and from the other side red to be ready for any occasion. Just before he sat down towards the back there was the wailing of a siren. Then he quickly jumped up but alas he was too late for the doors was already closed.…

The first thing I saw was the smoke running through my eyes and a masked man taking me away from the flaming fire. Unable to move, and blood crashing down from my nose, I felt my body shivering in the cold with a bright light shining down my face. In fact, the state’s Office of Traffic Safety reports that there were more than 450 motorcycle fatalities in 2013 alone. During that same year, many more people were injured in crashes involving motorcycles. Such accidents frequently have devastating results for motorcyclists due to the size difference between their bikes and other vehicles, and their lack of any external protection. Three day later, the general Manager of Pandyan transport was sitting at his desk looking at three different reports in front of him. One was the Police man’s report which detailed the extent of damaged to the bus, and the fact that the driver had abandoned the bus without telling the passenger where he was going or what they should be doing. The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) who was summoned to the scene two hour later also fields a report of his assessment of the damage. He stated that Thangavelu, the driver, whose record indicated that he had been a fairly safe driver for almost two decades, had been involved couple of minor accident in the past six months. The first was when he hit a cyclist who fortunately sustained only some minor bruises and had the cycle intact. The second when he drove in to a ditch on a rainy night. Fortunately, again, there were no serious injuries to anyone and no damage to the bus. The RTO said that he had suspicion that Thangavelu was perhaps driving under the…
