Wonder By R J Palacio Character Analysis
The book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, has had a big impact on me because it shows perseverance and courage. These traits are important to me because I think that they are two traits that every person should have. Auggie shows perseverance when he went he went to school for the first time, since he had been homeschooled his whole life. Auggie was bullied before he went to school but once he got to school it was even worse. The first time that he went to school he did not have very many friends and was bullied. Auggie made lots of friends throughout the school year, once they really realized what he was like on the inside and not just what he looked like from the outside. Perseverance is a good trait that describes Auggie because he never gave up …show more content…
When a bunch of kids bullied him his real friends helped him and stood up for him. He showed courage by staying at school even after he got bullied at the drive in movie. He pushed through his hard times even though he was so upset. Auggie’s parents and Via helped him get through his hard times and encourage him to go to school in the first place. Even though he did not enjoy school at first he ended up loving school and made lots of friends. He was so scared about going to school but he ended up doing it finding out who his real friends are. When he started out at school he had friends that were mean to him and were fake friends, so throughout the year he found out who were his real friends and who he could really trust. Another time when Auggie showed courage was when it was Halloween costume day, and he dressed up as the bleeding scream instead of a star wars character so Julian and Jack didn’t see him come in the room because they expected the star wars character. They were talking about how ugly his face is and they were talking bad about Auggie. In the bleeding scream costume when he came in they didn’t know it was him and so he heard their whole conversation they were saying about him. His feelings were so hurt and he was crying. Those were his “friends” that were saying those mean things about him. He didn’t know what to think. It made him realize all this time they were just friends
