Kind. This word describes August because he is not offended by other strangers. He also lets others go when they severly make fun of his looks. This shows that “Auggie” Is very easy going, and nonchalant when dealing with people that bully him. August is calm with bullies because when they start to tease, he takes it. He then realizes that he is getting made fun of. People are putting him down because of his looks. But he moves on. Hurtful. This is how Augest felt when random people came to him and asked. “What happened to your face?” Or when he is just walking down the hallway in school, and people gasp when they lay their eyes on this one and milion wonder. Why does he not over react when this happens time after time? But no matter what, he moves on.

This is what I had felt, and took from Auggie after reading this book. But how do you think he felt on the inside when all this stuff happened to him? Strangers would say dumb things, and August would just move on. But did he really just move on? Bullies like Julien would tease and harass Auggie, and he would just like walk away from it like nothing had happened. In reality, how could someone get nagged on and on, and not get a little upset? I feel sense Auggie did not take offense to people deliberately hurting his feelings, this shows that he is indeed very, very kind. Also, this shows that August is very affectionate to these people that tease him about his face. I know how you think, “How does kind and affectionate make sense to call Augie?” But I am here to tell you again that August Pollman is kind because of all the bullies that push him around mentally. But August doesn't do anything. Julien nags, and nags him. And August doesn’t do anything. August Pollman does not care. He lets the situation go, and moves on. He shows affection to the people that are rude to him. That is why Augie is

The author makes it so that Auggie is telling you what happened to him and why his face is the way it is. She makes it so it’s a mystery she never describes what his face actually look like but it does say “I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking it’s probably worse.” The main conflict in the book is that Auggie’s face looks different than all the other kids and the other kids don’t know how to handle it. Auggie has a hard time finding friends because they all make weird faces whenever they see him. The author makes it so that it seems like we are living in his life and it makes the reader feel like we are…

Browns December precept which read, “ Fortune favors the bold” Most definitely favors auggie. One of the ways it favors auggie was when he lost his lobot hearing aid from sticking up to the kids he felt very bold and then later on the hearing aids were to be paid for. This shows that because of him sticking up to the bullies and being bold he was able to not have much damage done to himself. Another example is when auggie first came to breacher prep he was made fun of and ignored but throughout the year people started to notice that he is a great guy and just like them and at the very end of the year at the award ceremony, he won the best reward of them all, the Henry Ward Beecher medal.…

This quote from Wonder, ”I did notice as I walked that Amos had stayed right next to me. And Jack was close on the other side of me. And Miles was in front of us and Henry was in the back of us… I had my own emperor’s guard.” This shows that people can be friends and don’t have to be complete imbeciles like Eddie and his friends in part 8. It also showed that Auggie does have more friends “on his side” than he thought.…

He is taken to his homeroom class, and the science laboratory. August isn`t excited to go to school in a very crowded, public area because of his deformed face. He is worried that people will treat him differently. For instance, whenever August is walking down the street, people would stare at him, and treat him much differently than they would treat someone with no disorders. This made August feel very self conscious. Julian is making this new experience much more difficult for August. Julian is not treating August with respect, because he thinks that just because August has a deformed face he has no feelings. He asks August questions that make him feel very unwelcomed, and uncomfortable. August experiences Julian`s very sceptical…

In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, August deserves the Henry Beecher Award for Courage and Greatness because he was able to handle the bullying that he faced in school with the appropriate behavior. During the fifth grade ceremony which takes place in the Beecher Prep Upper school auditorium, Ms. Rubin names the students that have made it into the high honor roll and she reads the name, “August Pullman” (Palacio 302). This shows that although Julian had been picking on August during the time he had attended Beecher Prep, August did not let Julian’s bullying bother him and maintained high grades instead. As a result, he is able to focus on school and the important aspects of his life, which shows greatness because he does not let Julian get…

In the novel Light in August, many characters struggle with their identity. Specifically, Lena Grove, Joe Christmas, and Gail Hightower (the novel’s three central characters) are all in some way separated from a significant part of the identity. Being a Southern Gothic novel, Light in August often portrays these characters as archetypes in order to relate them to staple character roles in the genre, such as the innocent or the outsider. Because of the archetypal nature of these characters, many of them have a specific and defining trait that is the root of their identity. However, for the three central characters of this novel, Faulkner adds ambiguity and confusion to this defining trait, or…

Via is August’s big sister and is very caring towards Auggie and is extremely protective of him. Via helps the reader get a better understanding of what August looks like and what he’s like at home. An example for this is when via says, “His eyes are about an inch below where they should be, about half way down his cheeks. They slant downward at an extreme angle, like diagonal slits down his face. His eyelids sag so much you can see the red in his eyes. It looks like a piece of invisible string pulling his eyelids down. He doesn’t have eyebrows or eye lashes and his nose is far to big for his face. He doesn’t have cheek bones and people sometimes assume he’s been burnt in a fire because all his features are melted. He has a few scars because of all the surgeries his upper teeth splay out. A piece of his hip bone was put into his jaw and he has no chin at all”. The author put this in the novel because it makes he reader think how hard it would be to have a face like that and can’t help feeling sorry for him.…

Thanks again for your emails, I was planning to write to you earlier but I didn't have much ambition since I had another bad flu. For years I have been lucky, hardly got sick at all with the flu or cold, at worst very mild ones. The last few years, but especially this fall and now into January, I've been sick several times and now I have my persistent cough back, annoying. It may have to do with the mild winters we have lately at least some people suggest a link with that. It looks like next week at least we'll go below freezing but it has been very mild here.…
