Auggie's Precept Analysis
Mr Browns Precepts factor into August’s year like no other. They tend to fit in to what Auggie is going through or needs. A couple of examples are September, December, and April. All of these have legit reasons why the relate to Auggie's life in some way or the other. Firstly, Mr Brown's September precept was one of the precepts that I believe Auggie took into fact. The precept stated, “When given the choice of being right or being kind, choose kind. One example of when August took this into account was Summer states in her section of the book that she initially sat with Auggie for the fact that he didn't have many friends and that people were making fun of him. She did this because she felt it was the right thing to do. Later on she realizes …show more content…
Browns December precept which read, “ Fortune favors the bold” Most definitely favors auggie. One of the ways it favors auggie was when he lost his lobot hearing aid from sticking up to the kids he felt very bold and then later on the hearing aids were to be paid for. This shows that because of him sticking up to the bullies and being bold he was able to not have much damage done to himself. Another example is when auggie first came to breacher prep he was made fun of and ignored but throughout the year people started to notice that he is a great guy and just like them and at the very end of the year at the award ceremony, he won the best reward of them all, the Henry Ward Beecher medal. Lastly, Mr brown's april precept which stated, “What is beautiful is good, and who is good will soon be beautiful. This really shows how throughout august’s time at beecher prep he grew in strength and happiness and he is truly beautiful just like everyone else. He also learned that being good and doing the right thing pays off in many ways. One example of this is when everyone believed julian's story he and his friends stuck by his story and eventually everyone didn't believe julian. This showed august that even if he is different, it doesn't stop him from being

In the beginning of the book it talked a lot about his perspective on everything and his background. Auggie talks about how just going to the grocery store is hard for him because he knows what the people are going to do. He has to be in the right mood just to get out of the house. The author does a very good job describing what emotion Auggie has when he goes somewhere or sees something. Throughout the whole book the author is showing Auggie’s perspective of everything. Seeing kids at the movie theatre, going to a grocery store, how it feels to dress up for halloween.…

He was brave enough to transition from homeschool to public school because of how his face has to affect everything else he does. An illustration of this is shown on page 369 when Palacio states “Luckily, a few days later, we did find out that I’d gotten into my first-choice private school, not far from where I lived. I’d have to wear a uniform, but that was okay.” From this we can indicate that Auggie is very versatile to where he goes to school and all the things that shift for him. Appreciating that there will inevitably be new procedures that everyone needs to absorb takes time to forge positive procedures with new colleagues is something Auggie distinctly takes conduct of. Thinking of Auggie and the hardships he experiences daily, that most people never think of is what I truly see how Auggie is determined to always adapt to a new environment. We hear a lot in our lives about the importance of being flexible and versatile. Whether it’s being flexible in working hours, attitudes with your colleagues, or even changing to a new environment persistently. Although, most think their life seems difficult because of having to move to a new environment or something they are new to; Auggie takes this to the next level where people stare at him to every step he takes and wherever he goes. Nevertheless, he does handle this very well at his age, where…

Golding characterizes Piggy as the outcast to give reason a voice so that readers can consider what could have happened had the boys listened to Piggy. This exemplifies the impact logic and reason could have in society. At the assembly discussing whether the beast was real, Piggy said, “I know there isn’t no beast…but I know there isn’t no fear, either...Unless we get frightened of people” (84). The boys laugh and completely ignore Piggy’s comment. Jack fosters the boys’ fear caused by the beast as they try to hunt it down. The fear and hunting helps turn the boys into the sadistic savages they are at the end of the book. This begs the question of what would have happened had the boys listened to Piggy’s comment. Their fears might not have…

We got rid of our cable about a month ago in an attempt to watch less TV. What I've learned is that you don't really need a TV service. We can watch most of our favorite shows online for free and, of course, we have Netflix to take up hours upon hours of our time. We've tried not to watch too much TV, but this past weekend I found a show called 13 Reasons Why and became interested in the plot about a woman who takes her own life and then describes the 13 reasons why she does so. I'm on episode 12 out of 13, but for the last few episodes, I've been struck by an important message that I keep thinking about. There is a slight spoiler from an episode that I'm going to talk about, so if you don't like spoilers, you won't want to keep reading.…
