who is my mentor

A mentor to me is someone that you can look up to and go to for support. In order to be a good mentor, you must posses certain qualities. The most important quality is experience. To be able to help someone, you must know what he or she is going through. Another required quality is the ability to listen. Mentoring consists mainly of communicating with the person. Hearing and understanding is very important. A Mentor must also be sympathetic and willing to help. Compassion is key to any mentor relationship. My Mentors is my mom she plays a key role in my life, and the lives of many others. We have been through so much together, and we get closer everyday.
Experience is the most important quality that a mentor must posses. While living in this world my mother has gained so many experience, and knowledge about everything you can imagine. Being a single mother in this world is one of the hardest things to do. Being the great mother that she is she never complained about it, and she has done way more then I could ever ask for and more. One of the most difficult decisions my mother had to make was moving with us to Michigan from Haiti. My mother had to learn a new language and start school over again. Everything she does in her life is to make me and my brothers lives easier. Working seven days a week is not that easy when being a nurse.

Another great quality my mom posse is the ability to listen. Growing up with us in the hood wasn’t easy for my mom. My brothers and I were good kids, but sometimes we got caught up wit the wrong group of friends, and got in some trouble. When I would get in trouble my mother was always there to talk me. She never really got mad but was always disappointed. My mom is like a good friend to me. I feel like I could talk to her about anything. We could be talking about the girl friend problems I may be having, to how to play better defense during my basketball.

    1. Why are you interested in serving as a peer mentor again? I am interested in serving as a peer mentor again next year because of the experiences and opportunities that I have had so far. Looking back on my experiences in Econ 110, I appreciated the guidance I received from the class and from my peer mentors. I am excited to continue to help the incoming freshman class adjust to college by preparing them for life as an Agricultural Business student. More specifically preparing them for the CALS career fair, working with each student of their four-year plans, and being available for any questions they may have.…

I believe that a peer mentor is a student who is willing to be a helping hand for their peers. They are available to provide support, guidance, or just be an approachable companion. They take pride in doing what it takes to better themselves and other’s around them. They are able to identify and accept their strengths and weaknesses and build upon them. I think it’s important for a peer mentor to be someone that isn’t selfish because you need to sacrifice your own time for others. They should be caring because it’s all about what you can do for other people and our school. They need to be driven and motivated to complete any tasks that are thrown their way. They also need to be able to balance mentoring, school, and whatever other activities…

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” ~Edward Everett Hale. Therefore, because I am only one person, and one person may never perfect his knowledge in any field, I will do my best with what I have. For the aspects that I struggle in, I need a mentor to assist me in the creation of my paper. This mentor will need to be well informed in the field of science, exhibits good grammar and spelling skills, which I lack, and be responsible enough to turn in my assignments on time as to not penalize my overall grade. The Central High School faculty member that I feel best fits these requirements is Mr. Quick.…

I would share with my student peers especially the one that is interested in medical school and my mentor about what I have experienced throughout the mentorship experience by creating a small group. I would also give them as much information and knowledge that I gain from this opportunity, that I might had experience being as a true scientist. In additions, I would also help other who interested to participate in this mentorship experience next year, by addressing my struggles and how I overcome everything.…

Exam weeks were always hectic, but I never expected that I would spend hours tutoring other students instead of preparing for myself. I founded a study group for accounting last semester, which was inspired by my tutoring experience. I took Introduction to Financial Accounting one year ago. After the midterm, our professor asked some top students, including me, to mentor those who were about to fail in this course. It is unproblematic for me to organize and absorb tons of knowledge. However, for Miguel, my mentee, this process seemed fairly challenging. He said that reading tediously long material was perplexing and then he easily gave up. Therefore, I taught him my method, that is, to disentangle the whole paragraph into several sections and…

I feel like the most important attribute for a mentor is a willingness to help other people. I think that a Year 9 Mentor should be not only be helpful, but also respectful, honest, determined and confident. I feel as though I have some of the attributes that a Year 9 Mentor needs, and the ones that I don’t have, I would really like to improve upon and try to learn more of, and I believe that being a mentor will enable me to do so. The main reason why I’d like to be a mentor Is because I understand how daunting it can be to come to a new school where you don’t know anyone, and that’s why I’d like to be there for the new year nines, as someone who utterly wants to help them and someone who they can easily approach. I’d really like to help…

Research in both educational settings and in the workplace indicates that students and employees alike are more likely to succeed if they have had a mentor. Although mentors are useful for everyone, sometimes organizations implement mentoring programs to support particular parts of their populations, often newer employees. Obviously, a clear requirement of a good mentor is that he or she must have the right the values and all traits and abilities sought to be inculcated in a child. As the saying goes “you cannot give what you do not have”. Christ puts it more aptly in Luke 6:39 “can the blind the lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch?” Thus parents or potential parents must first nurture in themselves the traits, Principles and values they would love to inculcate into their children.…

When I was young, I was so curious about a lot of things. I used to ask some elders at home about the things I was curious at, but all I can remember are the sweet, calm answers of my beloved grandfather. I never thought that his answers to my childish questions could slowly mold me into someone who values the great mentorship of a grandpa. I realized that yes, he was preparing me to face the world behind the wall. My grandfather inspired me to work hard, taught me how to be responsible, and showed me the value of education.…
