When I Saw The Ocean
Dalia Selman Ms. Burnmaster English 1711-51 February 6th Essay 1, nd draft
The Ocean

Imagine a place where the atmosphere cradles the Earth in its open arms. Palm trees dance and provide cool shade over picture perfect beaches. Warm sun and hot sand compliment cool waters and cold drinks. I remember my first time traveling to the Middle East. It was there, that I met my first love, my only escape. Tel Aviv, Israel, 2006. It's the sweet summertime, I am at the prime of my childhood and eager to explore but too shy to venture away. Driven by my human desire for beauty, I indulge into this foreign landscape, differing from my landlocked home town. The city walls trace the sandy shores, a nice contrast. I love the way the towering sky scrapers lead your eyes across the smooth beach to Earths most beautiful and notorious masterpiece, the ocean. Tiffany blue skies stretch across my view. My eyes begin to set with the sun as cotton candy clouds, so deliciously light and fluffy, they float down the reflection of her glorious waters. I see beyond the abyss across the surface, to the line where the sky meets the earth. I imagine the stars bathing in the sea as they unwind into the great abyss when the world sleeps. I feel the sun kissing my baby soft skin. A warmth, with a fragile strength, unleashes through my whole body. I feel I have come across my natural habitat. I flourish in the Middle Eastern heat. I am lured into her by the rhythmic sound of waves crashing. Powerfully calm, pulling in and thrusting back onto the beach, creating a soothing lullaby to put my anxiety at rest. This was a foreign feeling to me, I have always been shy. The birds chirp cheerfully as they fly across over head. The scenic sounds create a meditation that eases my mind to a place of tranquility and zen. I breath in, with the ocean…I breath out, with the ocean. I dare myself to venture in. The silky, dirty blonde sand slips and slides under my heels. I run to her water in hope

As she walking to class, something caught her attention, the shore outside. She went outside, they were allowed to go outside without permission. She walked outside and she could feel the breeze going towards her and she could feel the warmness of the sun reflecting on top of her head. She saw how the waves were moving in a steady motion and it splashing on top of the soft sand. She could hear the palm trees moving gently.…

It was a deceptively beautiful summer night in the month of July; Resplendent and artistic to people with discerning tastes and sensibilities. The sky was ornamented by splendiferous celestial beings. The waning moon was accessorized by the clouds, suspended mid-air in a picturesque, aesthetic fashion, wanting to augment the peculiarly blissful setting. The violet sky couldn’t have been any more sublime.…

We enjoyed the atlantic ocean, the warm white sand, and the scorching hot sun. We could hear the huge waves crashing into the sandy shore. We could also hear the lively chatter of the people on the beach. The smell of the salty ocean and the banana boat sunscreen overtook the air with mass quantities of the two smells combined. The touch of the hot sand on your feet and the rough seashells on shore. The best part of the day was when me and my brother went kayaking for an hour out into the deep blue sea. It took fifteen long minutes to fight our way over the…

America is a unique individual with several defining qualities. Loudness and quietness coexisting in one place is remarkable and truly beautiful. Ocean City, New Jersey is a breathtaking place, as is America. Being on the beach is what I look forward to the most while preparing for vacation. Silence envelops my body on the beach, and yet waves crash down as adults and children scream and play. The most amazing part about the shore is tanning. Not because I like to get darker, but because I feel as though the sun embraces my body and gives me warmth—it’s a sense of ease, a sense of comfort. Even on the boardwalk, there’re so many people everywhere talking, laughing, eating—but the food is a completely different story. Anyway, being on top of a ride is exhilarating, yet so serene. It’s almost as good as one of my best recollections from vacation.…

As Bethany Hamilton once said, "Being out there in the ocean, God's creation, is like a gift he has given us to enjoy." The smell of grilled hot dogs lingered in the hot, Summer air from the boardwalk, and I smiled because I knew that it was going to be a wonderful day. To begin, I ran towards the luscious, majestic waves as they kissed the shoreline. For example, the waves came crashing down onto the sand with such a powerful force. As I began to run closer to the ocean, my feet touched the jewel- blue water, making my body shiver. Next, I looked around the crowded beach at all of the kids playing, noticing how much fun they were having. For instance, I could hear the waves splashing and the children playing on this hot Summer day. The sand…

Standing on top of a long narrow board, knees slightly bend, looking off into the distance of the beautiful coast of Hawaii. The wind runs through my wet hair, all of my worries disappear, and then I realize that I am thousands of miles away from my small house in southern Wisconsin. I realize how beautiful this state really is, and I miss it, I already miss the place where I currently am. I do not want leave, but then I notice the space between me and the shore is getting smaller. It is now time to jump into the ocean. I take one last look at the beach, close my eyes, and leap into the air, as I through my arms back. Then there is that spilt second, when all you are doing is falling, falling into the ocean almost in slow motion. Slowly I feel the warm water touch my feet, and rise up my body until I am completely submerged. I swim back to the surface, grab my board, and do it all over…

As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon.…

As I walk down the narrow, brown, rickety bridge that leads to the ocean my heart begins to race in anticipation of reaching the fascinating sight. I’m suddenly surrounded by sand that is white and pure as snow. I walk at a turtle’s speed absorbing this overwhelming beauty that encircles me. The sky is the brightest blue I’ve ever seen, so bright that it almost seems as if it is from an animated movie and not real life itself. Fluffy clumps of clouds that were covering the sky before slowly fade away into thin air and the crystal clear waves sparkle like diamonds. The water is never-ending. I see heaps of seagulls flying around the sky, white and grey and full of spirit. As a gust of wind runs through my long, dark, brown hair I look to the right to see two elegant dolphins leap from the deep blue sea and dive back in as if saying hello to the gorgeous, heavenly day.…
