What’s The Definition of a Teacher?

To Whom It May Concern,
Teachers are the facade of a school. They teach students skills that prepare them for their whole life. Teachers are leaders not followers; they are the lyrics to a song. They support the helpless and make frowns into smiles. A teacher is always on time and neatly dressed, not grumpy. Teachers have lost their way now. They miss some school days at a time; they record grades into the computer at the last minute, and they do not care about the students. Teachers have lost their true value.
There is a teacher named Mrs. A, she does not do any of her work. She is never at school; her grades are never in on time, and there is always a substitute in her class room. Her students have not learned anything since school started, and it is certainly driving my teacher crazy. My teacher is always covering for her but gets in trouble for no reason.
Teachers like Mrs. A have lost the knowledge of what it means to be a teacher. They take it for granted; teaching children is a privilege that is rewarded to those who entirely devote themselves to the job. Not those who abuse the privilege. If a teacher can not meet their full expectations, then he/she should not have the job. Students need the strong to lean on, not the weak. Students need a soaring eagle, not a crawling worm.
Teachers have lost their respect; the title does not mean anything anymore. Does anyone know what the definition of a teacher is?

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. In week four of our class I conducted an interview with a couple of teachers from my area (central Florida) which asked me to remain anonymous for technical reasons. I called them subject (A) and subject (B). In that interview they both opened up to me and took me through a journey of the school system in my area. One of the teachers has been teaching in this area for about 38 years and from what information I had gathered from the interview I can definitely say that she has seen it all. Teaching was her passion since her early age, she recalls playing teacher with her grandmother and aunts trying to teach them proper English since they only spoke broken English. Her family migrated to Florida from Greece when she was 6 years old and she did not speak a word of English when she started school. She recalls being so shy and since she didn’t speak any English, all she did was sitting in a corner and color all day. Up to this day she says she owes everything to her fourth grade teacher Mrs. Prim. At first (A) thought that Mrs. Prim was the meanest person in the whole world for taking away her coloring papers and crayons and forcing her in a way to learn English. (A) Admitted to me that she hated Mrs. Prim for doing that to her, but once she started learning the English language she had a change of heart. The rest as they say is history. (B) on the other hand has only been teaching for about 5 years and she loves it. She’s an E.S.L. instructor and her day consists of teaching English to kids that English is a second language. Have you ever had an educational experience be so profoundly terrible that it loomed for most of your academic career? I have. Ms. Quinn’s teaching style, or lack thereof, for my third and fourth grade years – that’s right, I had her for two years, not just one – scarred me for much of my childhood. I didn’t do much to help my case, though. I set the record in the school for most number of tardies in a year. I had thirty one tardies in my third grade year and the front office lady was so nice that I probably should have had twice that.
