Walk With The Wilds Rhetorical Devices
This poem reminds me of my childhood. Growing up and being a child from a family that was severely diverse and different. This poem is my mom motivational speech everyday till this day about patience, independent and growing up into me. It brings back memories of learning new thing from the world and adapting it in ways that will be beneficial in the future and teaches about self-confidence, patience, hard work and never giving up.
Reading it again after a long while filled me with aspiration and motivation that makes me think this is the best poem ever. I love how the poet compare and contrast conflict using his own experiences to tell a story to his son. For example, “truth” is compared to a metal object that can be molded to a different shape of the mind desire. “Unforgiving minutes” means that time waits for no one, and we have to keep going because every missed seconds/opportunity is important. “Walk with Kings and talk with crowds” means to socialize with important people of different adversity because it’s relevant. “Worn out tools” means the elements that can cause someone to give up from their goals. All this creative and memorable comparisons were all made without the use of “like” and “as”, therefore the reader enjoys this.
Symbolism was also used in the writing of “IF” to create an “interest in readers as they find an opportunity to get an insight of the writer’s mind on how he views the world and how he thinks of common objects and actions”. It was also used to signify ideas and qualities by giving them symbolic meanings that are different from their literal sense.
Example of these is: “Knaves” could easily be translated to liars or people of decisive manners; “Crowds” symbolize people of a large diversity; “Kings” represent people of higher status or importance in society; and “Common touch” represents
