Twas The Night Before Christmas By Clement Clarke Moore
I chose “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, by Clement Clarke Moore to do my stylistic impression on because it is very important to me and it has a nice rhythm, meter, and rhyme. Every Christmas eve, my dad has read this poem/story to me, so this poem has a personal significance. Whenever I hear this poem, I become very happy, because this poem triggers joyus Christmas memories filled with family and good times. I also like the rhyming of this, because it gives the story an upbeat, jolly tone. It has a nice meter, however the meter is irregular. The meter also adds a very upbeat and joyous feel to this poem. The meter is very free spirited. It isn’t very strict, which allows for more creativity when constructing a line. The rhyme pattern

I favored the DVD over the written version of A Christmas Carol. Short stories and novels are not as interesting in my opinion. The book had a much darker tone throughout it. The movie had a slightly more lighthearted tone, with Scrooge laughing more often.…

My goal when writing this paper is to get my opinion and perspective on the poem across to my classmates so they know where I stand, but also to remain broad enough in my writing so that my readers can compare their own response to mine. Maybe in doing that, I can help a fellow classmate or two who has a block and is stuck in the middle of the assignment.…

A Christmas Carol Assessment: Writing Assessment Everybody knows the classic Christmas story, “A Christmas Carol”, and are most likely familiar with The Three Ghosts of Christmas. The version I was assigned to read was a shorter version of the original and did not include all the same events. But of course, it included the ghosts. They tried to help Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted, wretched, old man to find the light before it was too late.…

Have you ever been separated from your family? What if living wasn’t guaranteed? The holocaust killed over eleven million people. The purpose of the holocaust was to eliminate the entire Jewish race. In Night, by Elie Wiesel, Elie and his family were separated. Elie was forced to take care of his father while his mother and sister were killed. The Jews’ freedom, identity, and sense of hope were taken from them to make the Jews feel less than human.…

There is a very thin line between the person who you were and the person that you are right now. As humans, we experience millions of events that can affect and change our perspective on aspects throughout the course of our lives. Similar to caterpillars, we cannot be innocent and childish forever. There is a time for everybody to transform into something beautiful, and everybody’s time is different. Change can be good or bad, but most importantly, change helps us grow and become the people we were meant to be. How are we supposed to mature and enjoy our lives if we cannot accept the differences that life presents? For many people, metamorphosing is difficult because sometimes it can be a challenge to let go of something that was always a part of ourselves, such as letting go of a teddy bear, or a blanket, but for other people, it can be almost instantaneous.…

Throughout the book Night by Elie Wiesel, the relationship between Elie and his father changes drastically for many reasons. At the beginning of the book Elie and his father seem very close and his father doesn’t really show emotion. At the end or nearing the end of the book Elie and his father seem farther apart or even detached from each other. Elie and his father’s relationship is similar to the relationship between the Rabbi and his son but it is also very different. The relationship between Elie and his father changes very much for in a positive way for Elie throughout the memoir.…

A great work of art that has a great impact on my life is the novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickson. The story tells of a cold hearted, selfish business man named Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by his deceased business partner Jacob Marley and three ghosts on Christmas Eve. Jacob Marley who chained tells Scrooge that he should change his way or he will be punished in the after life. Marley beged for Scrooge to be given a chance to change. The ghost’s job is to persuade Scrooge to change his ways to avoid punishment in the afterlife. The three ghosts show Scrooge past, present, and future events that help Scrooge realize he is wrong and changes Scrooge into a better person. The story has had an impact on my life in many ways. The story taught me that a person’s behavior is a product of their past. If a person is unkind, it is the events that happened in their past that has made them who they are. It’s a reminder that showing compassion toward unkind people can make them a happier. The story has also taught me to treat people with kindness and respect. Lastly the story has taught me to always help the less fortunate because a little kindness can change a person's life.…

In my song, I briefly touch on that year with my family, but I focus more on people as a whole. I ended up using the melody and a few of the lyrics from It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas and rewrote what the song was about. The creative process of rewriting this song was actually a lot harder than I had expected. When writing lyrics to another song, you have to keep the number of syllables close or exactly to the original and also the emphasis on certain syllables similar to the original. Rhyming is also very important in Christmas carols, so what I could say and how I could phrase it got limited to the words that rhymed with each…

This paragraph is basically showing how she describe the ledge as her altar to basically punish herself. She believes by offering herself as a penance she will be free from all her pain. “The snow burdens her wings”, just as her parents burdened her with their expectations. The snow covers her body “ like whispers of worries.” The student is so upset and depressed that the only choice she has is to take her own life. She feels as though, her broken body and scattered ashes will spread out to all the things that she could not do or say. She describes how everything have their parts in her death. It’s basically indicating she committing suicide. Also “not good enough, not smart enough, not strong enough” is a reflection of the author on her own…

Every person that has ever walked on this earth has experienced the gut wrenching feeling of missing an opportunity you know could have offered a path for escape -knowing that you can pinpoint an exact moment in time that could have altered the course of your story. The Wiesel family is no exception to this statement. The novel, Night, by “Elie Wiesel” is a survivor's story of his experiences in the Holocaust. It is an autobiography of his life before and during the concentration camps. In these times the path was not always straight and the overwhelming circumstances caused people to make decisions that were rushed or insensible. People got caught up in disbelief and chose not to take action where action would have saved their lives These opportunities presented were missed or brushed aside and eventually caused thousands of people to die a merciless death within the four walls of the gas chambers. The Wiesel family missed many opportunities within the story Night that could have altered the course of their lives.…
