Bob Marley's A Christmas Carol
I favored the DVD over the written version of A Christmas Carol. Short stories and novels are not as interesting in my opinion. The book had a much darker tone throughout it. The movie had a slightly more lighthearted tone, with Scrooge laughing more often. There are multiple differences between the film and book, A Christmas Carol. Scrooge does not meet Tim on the street waiting for his father. The book does not tell a part about just Tim and his father. Marley’s ghost does not say his name repeatedly to Scrooge. When Ebenezer looks out his window to see where the ghost of Marley went there are phantoms in the air. The Ghost of Christmas Past is a male. Scrooge does not dance with a woman. He wakes up on his bed instead of floor. The conversation between Ebenezer and his nephew, Fred, is short. The Ghost of Christmas Future does not make a screeching sound. …show more content…
Marley has passed away. It starts with Scrooge in his counting house. He talks with his nephew about Christmas and how not delightful it is. When arriving to his home, Ebenezer sees Marley’s face as the knocker on his front door. Chains rattle downstairs and bells ring around him. The ghost of Marley comes into his room and talks to him. Scrooge woke up in complete darkness. People in the memories cannot hear, nor see Ebenezer. His little sister arrives to take him home with their father. Ebenezer screams at the spirit telling them that he does not want to see the memories anymore. Belle has children and a husband, Bob Cratchit. Two children stand under the Ghost of Christmas Present’s robe. A hooded figure walks toward Ebenezer. Bob was late to work. In return of Bob being late, Scrooge raises Bob’s

When I read this story it showed how Scrooge changed during the three visits from each spirit the first one was the ghost of christmas past, the second was the ghost of the christmas present, the third one was the ghost of the christmas future and it talked about how it has affected scrooge in the past, present, and the future, I think the future affected him the most because he thought having a lot of money would make him a popular person, but when he saw his death, and he was alone, he began to realize money is not what makes family, he thinks about tiny tim about that tiny tim is not rich but he is everyone favorite. Once he have visited every ghost he has changed he is now a nice person.…

“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values” says Thomas S. Monson. This is one intricate message that Ebenezer Scrooge failed to grasp. Ebenezer Scrooge is the narcissistic, avaricious protagonist in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. To start off, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present and the ghost of Christmas yet to come. Each of these three spirits exemplifies a different time in his penurious life. As an attempt to change Scrooge, all of the three spirits…

Introduction-Sometimes the things you do can affect you on your future and make you get marked again from them. On the act of “A Christmas Carol”, we read how one of the main characters (Scrooge) was the man that no one didn't like and when he changed. He was a completely different man and, could take care of anyone. Scrooge had a lot of problems in his life that he had regret but, the most effective problem was that he'd lost the person he'd truly care about and the people that made him go forward.…

He remembers how he was rejected, and then he feels regretful and sad for what he had done and what might happen because of him. In the second stave it says, “The school is not quite deserted,” said the Ghost. “A solitary child, neglected by his friends, is left there still” (33). This depicts that Scrooge had no one that really loved him. He didn’t have any real friends or people to talk too. Scrooge thinks about what he has done, and says regretfully, “There was a boy singing a Christmas carol at my door last night. I should like to have given him something” (36). This demonstrates that Scrooge knows that he has made mistakes, and is starting to become a better person, with the Ghosts’ help. Scrooge becomes sad, finally thinking about someone other than himself. “Spirit,” said Scrooge, with an interest he had never felt before, “Tell me if Tiny Tim will live.” “I see a vacant seat,” replied the Ghost, “In an old chimney corner, and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, the child will die” (65). This shows that Scrooge really does care about other people. He is recognizing his emotions for other people…

A major change made in this film is the arrival of the ghosts. This greatly differs from the novel. The ghost of Christmas yet to come has a hand of skin and does not speak but responds to scrooge in the form of an eerie metallic noise that evokes the screech of a cemetery’s gate. Although Marley’s ghost did appear, the ghosts wailing outside scrooge’s window were incognito. Scrooge’s fiancé, who eventually leaves him because of his misery ways, does not appear in the film, as were the two starving children Want and Ignorance who hid within the folds of the ghost of Christmas yet to come segment. In this production unlike the original story, Scrooge actually fires Cratchit rather than just threatening to do so. Unlike other portrayals on film, the cratchit’s Christmas Eve dinner is…

In 'A Christmas Carol', Dickens represents Scrooge as a 'squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner' who is against Christmas and happiness and values money, yet given a chance to redeem his fate. Marley's Ghost has come to warn Scrooge to change his avarice ways or he, too, will be condemned to wander the Earth in the pain he has caused and the happiness he cannot share, weighed down by 'the chain [he] forged in life' which he has made 'link by link, and yard by yard'. Dickens uses the metaphor to contribute to the burden Marley carries because of the selfish ways he has acted in his life on Earth. Scrooge is shaken by what has happened to his sole friend, who offers no console and furthermore exemplifies his fate by showing him the phantoms who, like Marley, wore chains and were linked together, unable to be free as 'misery with them all was, clearly, that they sought to interfere, for good…and had lost the power for ever' as for the dead, it is too late for anything, which is the message given to Scrooge. The Spirit of Christmas Past visits to reminisce Scrooge's unhappy childhood as a 'solitary child, neglected by his friends'. Scrooge pities himself, and wishes that he had given something to the boy 'singing a Christmas Carol at [his] door last night', which becomes his first step towards his transformation. When Scrooge is shown his fiancé upset that 'another idol has replaced [her]'…a golden one', he recollects how greedy he was and his true values is reflected.…

Thare are also changes in Books’ characters, how they act and the new characters as well. There are additional characters from the movie that is certainly not included in the book. They are Mr. Dimples and Mrs. Dimples. The christmas past ghost was very cool but when the book described it, it looked pretty different from it's descripton. The author never said christmas past ghost was a fire ghost or has a flaming head in the book. And it also left out when the chirstmas past ghost started doing his dancing flickering. The Ghost of Christmas Present doesn't take Scrooge to as many places as in the book, but this version at least shows Scrooge being shown men on ships, in the coal mines, in jails, etc. In the book it is not include when,,where and how Belle (Scrooge's fiance) and Scrooge first met. In the movie they add more empathize on Belle by showing the contrast between Scrooge and Belle dancing in a really smitten state and the older Belle walking out on Scrooge.…
