Think Win-Win
Each one in our group has a topic to do so it would be fair to everybody and so we can have something to contribute. What I personally learned from the project and the process is that Think Win-Win isn’t being nice, nor is it a quick-fix technique. It is a character-based code for human interaction and collaboration. Most of us learn to base our self-worth on comparisons and competition. We think about succeeding in terms of someone else failing. Win-Win sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. Win-Win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. Win-Win means agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfying. Win-Win is an act between courage and consideration. To go for Win-Win, you are not only have to be emphatic, but you also have to be confident. You not only have to be considerate and sensitive, you also have to be brave. To do that—to achieve that balance between courage and consideration—is the essence of real maturity and is fundamental to win-win. Think Win-Win is an attitude toward life, a mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. Think Win-Win is the foundation for getting along well with other people. It begins with the belief that we are equal that no one is inferior and superior to anyone else, and no one really needs to be.
So let’s explore this strange idea called Think Win-Win. Win-Win is not Win-Lose, Lose-Win, or Lose-Lose. They are all common but poor attitudes toward life. Climb aboard, strap yourself in and let’s take a look at each

    My next solution came from what we have discussed this week which is the “Hawthorne studies”. I remember the quote that my classmate Hugh had posted: “If everyone is special, then no one is”. We may be able to use positive recognition and remove the negative feelings towards each other. For instance, when the candidates are chosen, I would phrase it as “You three are handpicked from hundreds of candidate. We feel that only you guys are qualified to make this mission succeed. I believe by making them feel that they are the only ones that can accomplish this goal, they will work as hard as they can to make their groups come together. This will eliminate the difference they feel towards each other’s believes and also expand into trying to convince others to work together as well. As more people get on board with the idea, we can form sub teams under the leaders of the team and inform them also that they will now be the “special” bunch that need to spread the word among the public about how important it is to be part of this project and make it work. This will eventually have a ripple effect. The pro about this project is that it will bring people together and eliminate the differences.     I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies.
