The Stormbreaker Quotes
I’m reading a book called the Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, and it is a very good book. I saw a word that just kept coming up again and again, and that word is harpoon. The word harpoon came up so many times in three pages. I know that this is important because I know something is going to happen very shortly. I know it is going to be shortly because I'm getting to the end of the book. Now maybe he has to do something because he has to get to a museum in Britain. He hopped on the plane very quickly because people are chasing him so he doesn't escape. As that is happening he seemed to find the harpoon and has to kill the people coming after him. Hers is a quote from the book, “A harpoon in the back of the jeep would be his”. This is important

In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Sanger Rainsford is shown as intelligent, brave, and competitive. Rainsford is shown to be intelligent in the story when he climbed into a big tree to sleep. He chose the tree because he needed to stay away from General Zaroff. “A big tree with outspread branches was nearby… he climbed up into the crotch and stretched out on one of the broad limbs, after a fashion, rested” (Connell 75). This quote shows that Rainsford is intelligent because during this part, he is climbing into a tree to try and stay hidden from General Zaroff. He is also trying to rest so he can stay away from General Zaroff. During the story, Rainsford is also brave. He shows that he is brave when he walks up to a house he does not know, knocks on the door, and goes inside. All with people he does not know. “He lifted the…

    Broken Spears Quotes

While reading “Broken Spears”, written by Miguel Leon-Portilla, I’ve had a small view of what Mexican culture was like back in those times. They are sort of different from America’s traditions and societies. Broken Spears is unlike others written about the loss of the empire because it was written from the point of the Aztecs and not the Spanish. As the book goes on, Miguel Leon-Portilla describes how the Spanish were successful in taking over the solid empire. The book really starts out by giving a clear background of the beliefs and culture. Motecuhzoma is seen as scary because he made his people surrender. I respect the Indians and Aztecs because their morals and customs were Christian like and seemed as if they did the right thing…

"Yes the motherfucker looks so deadly it makes me giggle and blush." (155) Weapons play an important role in war. Not only do they protect and kill, but they provide a feeling of comfort to a soldier because the soldiers are in control of their weapons. During the Gulf War in Iraq, soldiers were excited by their deadly weapons as described in the pervious quote. In the book Jarhead, a memoir by Anthony Swafford, soldiers have intense relationships with their weapons. Swafford constantly describes the many guns he carries, the process of cleaning his weapons and how they use them. Swafford's fear of dying triggers his obsession with weapons because they are the only aspect of the war he can control to stay alive. Even after the war is…

A hero is often defined as someone that demonstrates courage, performs brave deeds, and displays noble qualities. Personally, I think that this definition can be applied to both Kevin and Maxwell due to the fact that they have both faced many difficult obstacles with the qualities of a hero. However, if only one character from the book, Freak the Mighty were to be chosen and defined as the hero of the story, I believe that Kevin would best represent the title, hero.…

“What goes around, comes around.” This is a commonplace quote that we have all heard at least once in our lives, and it relates to many aspects of life. Not to mention, it also relates to our outlook on life. For example, if you have a negative outlook, you will receive a negative outcome. The story “Three Skeleton Key” by George Toudouze mentions a Breton in the lighthouse by the name of Le Gleo. His outlook on life is pessimistic, he jumps to conclusions, is easily frightened, and loses hope easily. This would later seal his fate, when he eventually lost hope and went insane.…
