The Steadfast Horatio In Hamlet
In the great literary work that is “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” one of the most impactful characters to the play was the steadfast Horatio. Throughout the play you see Horatio show his significance to the play though his actions, advice, courage and his steadfast personality. Horatio in a play that is a tragedy is one of the few survivors who played many significance roles in the play. Horatio who starts as a classmate in Wittenberg ends as a survivor who knows Hamlet’s full truth. Horacio’s role in the play is that of the greatest friend and confident, he brings truth to the play and the strongest support to Hamlet.

    I believe that out of all the characters in William Shakespeare 's Hamlet, Horatio, has the most potential. What I mean by potential is that Horatio would make the best real person if he were not a character within the play. Besides Horatio, every other character seems to have some kind of major flaw or weakness in comparison. Claudius is obviously power hungry and only concerned with himself. Gertrude, although means well, is portrayed as betraying King Hamlet by sleeping with Claudius. Polonius is sneaky and likes to speak on everything he hears. Laertes strikes Hamlet and winds up killing him with poison. Ophelia is so dependent on her father that she goes into a disarray and eventually kills herself.
