The Son of Neptune
Title: The Son of Neptune
Author: Rick Riordan
Intro:
After some days of running away from 2 Gorgons in the beginning of the book Percy is with no memory except his girlfriend Annabeth and the fact that he can’t kill the 2 Gorgons. He stumbles upon a Roman camp called Camp Jupiter. Percy who’s still followed by the Gorgons uses his powers as the son of Neptune (the god of water and earthquakes) to destroy the Gorgons (temporarily) and save the guard Frank. He meets there Reyna, the daughter of Bellona the female god of war and one of the two camp leaders, Hazel, the daughter of Pluto (the god of the underworld), Frank, an unclaimed demigod, and Nico di Angelo, son of Pluto. Percy, Hazel, and Frank find out that the reason the monsters won’t die is that Thanatos the god of death (not the underworld) is imprisoned. So the camp elects of course Percy, Hazel, and Frank to go to free Thanatos. The catch is that the camp is at San Francisco and Thanatos is in Alaska, and to make harder they have to make it back before the Feast of FORTUNA which is in 4days! On the journey you’ll see the secrets of the three characters are revealed to one another as they go to free Thanatos. With so many obstacles will the trio succeed? Read The Son of Neptune to find out. This book comes from a series called Percy Jackson and the Olympians and its part of the series The Heroes of Olympus. I recommend that you read the 5 books about Percy and the book The Lost Hero.
In this book I think my favorite character is Hazel. Without her I bet their quest wouldn’t succeed. She helped Percy and Frank keep their heads high when they were down with encouraging words and glances. She also is very mysterious with all of her dark secrets deep down inside. I find all the characters in this book realistic. At times they are regular teenagers with problems of a regular mortal teenager and then they are regular teenagers with weapons and powers fighting monsters. This book is not very straight

Also, Percy and Annabeth’s friend Hazel have to defeat a goddess that can only be defeated by her with power that Hazel does not know how to use or…

I chose the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. The story takes place in a “busy” city that is never given a name in no particular era of time. Prior to the story the Baudelaire children live in a mansion in the middle of the city with their parents. They are a happy family. The story begins after the mansion burns, and their parents are killed in the fire.…

In Throne of glass we are introduced to a lot of characters, of course, there are some that are more important than others. We get to follow these characters throughout the series, Celaena, Chaol, and Rowan. The book plays out in a medieval setting, set in the year of something, featuring old-style wooden houses, towns centered around a castle and so on. Except for the normal medieval setting, there is also magic which sadly doesn’t work in the city where the book mostly takes place in.…

Percy – Percy provides the novel with the perfect parallel to Dunstan. He does, however, contrast in many ways to Dunstan. They are best friends, but Percy rivalry results in the formation of the main setting of the novel. Percy also feels more of an attachment to material goods than Dunstan does. He thinks only of himself and is in constant pursuit of total and utter control. Percy was low moral standards in comparison to Dunstan and in some ways, feels he is of a higher stature than other human beings. This awkward relationship between him and Dunstan forms the basis of the novel.…

One challenge that Percy faced was that he did not know what was going on with him in the future. It states on page 19, paragraphs 4-10, “ I mean the Kindly One was in school! Now that we know for sure that they know too… The summer solstice deadline… Now just worry about keeping him alive until next fall.” This proves that he does not know what is going to happen in the future to him.…
