The Six Writing Traits
Dear, Mr. Andress

The grade i deserve is a A- because I work hard, I do my work, and I pay attention. I don't have any zeros or any late work. I did really good on my papers and I always had my parents review it. I don't think I went above and beyond because writing papers for me is really easy.

My writing has improved exponentially. out of the six writing traits I am best at ideas because I like to tell the reader what I think right away. The one I'm worst at is word choice because I use and, but, and, because a lot.

I worked the hardest on the myth which took a long time for me which I would have had a lot more detail. I usually don't rewrite often.

Thank you for reading my letter.
Sincerely, Ben

The amount I have changed as a writer is unbelievable. The biggest change is that I no longer loathe writing a paper. I feel as though it comes more naturally than before, and I can now make complete sentences easier than ever before. Another thing that has changed is how quickly I can write a paragraph before I would struggle getting a cohesive thought on a page, but now writing a paragraph that relates all together in some way is easier. All of this brings me onto my next point.…

I will not lie; my strengths when it comes to writing are few. The greatest strength so far has been topic choice. Even though my thesis may not be clear or in the correct format my topic has been strong. The Wichita Kid from “The Gunfighter” by Alden Nowlan and a young man living on the streets of Calgary both demonstrate that we fear what we do not understand. Citizens need to personally comprehend someones situation before they can help or judge them directly. Homelessness and poverty are often hard situations to face considering how uncomfortable and awkward it can become. When Kevin O’Brien has a short conversation with Wichita he learns that he is unaware of reality and living his delusional life as a famous gunfighter. Confused and not understanding Wichita’s situation, Kevin tries to solve his own guilt by lending the young boy some spare change. Much like Kevin O’Brien when I encountered the young unfortunate man in Calgary my own heart ached, so I tossed him a couple of loonies and left. Although you feel major misery there is rarely anything you can do to support them without getting deeply involved.…

My strengths in writing can vary but I am the best at topic development, unity, and sentence structure. I feel great about topic development; I can come up with many different wonderful and juicy topics to write about. I am also good at using the skill of unity. I feel that I am good at making sure that everything in my papers and journals make sense and have unity. The last and I think most important skill I am good at is sentence structure. I try as hard as I can and stride for perfect sentence structure. I feel as if I am stronger in this category than most others are.…

Through class lesson I have learned new things from my classmates, from newspapers and from my teachers. I have learned that we as a nation are too quick to believe when something is right or wrong without taking the accounts into consideration. With this, I have learned to question the details and being more involved to avoid blindly answering. My classmates have taught me that we can all help each other improve. I have examined students in the Wight Foundation helping one another out so we can all excel. There is always room for growth even when you think you are your…

Throughout the year, my writing has had significant improvements, compared to where I began. First, I began this semester fairly confident in my writing abilities. I thought that I had a strong grasp on writing concepts that include: transition words, literary devices, proper grammar techniques, correct paper writing format. In contrast, I felt that I began the year with a weak vocabulary, which has always been one of my weaker areas, If I were to rank myself on day one of class, without knowing all of the material we were going to cover, I would rank my writing skills an eight out of ten.…

Over the course of this year in English, I think my writing process has excelled the most along with my overall writing. In the past, I have used similar techniques to develop a final essay, but, this year, I have begin to rely more heavily on planning out and slowly chipping away at my essays and papers. I believe also that because of this planning the strength of my writing as a whole has grown. Personally, I do not think that I grew in my vocabulary usage. Overall this year, I grew as a writer in ways that I would not have predicted.…

I have always had faith in my writing capabilities; however, it wasn’t until I started my first year of college English, that I realized no matter how great of a writer I thought I was, there was always room for improvement! Some of my strengths as a writer include personality, voice, and the ability to add transitions that give character to my writing style. I have many weaknesses in my writing: grammar, spelling, punctuation (which I happen to be working on every time I write), and many other quirks that a brilliant writer would catch. Between paper one and paper two, I have mastered projecting my “voice”, as well as my personality. I like my papers to feel as though I was sitting next to the reader and chatting with them about my story.…

My style of writing is usually freeform, in my spare time I usually write post-apocalyptic situations, dark comedy, or serious. I have grown majorly at imagery and developing characters and dialogue. The tone of my writing is usually mellow, and flows rather quickly. And I have learned to construct a story arc that does not change too erratically. Future goals of mine would to get a few of my works published in a few small newsletters. Overall, I think my writing has improved drastically, I have learned how to style many different types of stories and writings.…

As I arrived to America, I instantly had to learn the American culture as well as comprehend and speak the English language. With the tremendous influence from my family, school teachers and tutors, and reading countless literacy books, my English composition and comprehension have immensely improved.…
