The Pros Of Marching Band
When people think of band, they assume it’s full of nerdy kids who play boring music. When in fact marching band is the complete opposite. After participating in it for just two years, I can defend that marching band is phenomenal. Firstly, marching band allows for people to make a countless number of friends. For instance, when they start their freshman year, they are a fishy, upperclassmen help they out, and start to legitimately bond with them. Half way through the season they have already talked with all the band members, and made acquaintances and friends with the majority of them.     One will understand that they must be patient with their fellow peers, for the reason that some people might struggle with marching, or memorize their music slower than others. One must learn that respect is not given, but earned. Just because a drum major has more authority than a regular ole’ trombone player, does not mean they will receive respect from that trombone player right away. One will gain integrity; being a drum major requires an individual to work with fellow band members and treat everyone fairly while keeping in mind moral virtues.     When I joined the Bridgewater-Raritan program in August, I did not know what to expect. I knew that band was going to be hard work and a lot different than middle school.
