The Holocaust: The Persecution Of The Jews
The Holocaust is a period where 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis (Strahinich 7). The Holocaust took place between 1933-1945 (Strahinich 8) in Germany and Poland (Strahinich 32). Jews that were men, women and children were involved in the Holocaust (Allen 1). Adolf Hitler was the one that started the Holocaust (Strahinich 8). The Holocaust was the persecution of 6 million Jews and millions of others forced to live in ghettos, deported to camps, and systematically annihilated until the Allied forces liberated the remaining survivors. The ghettos confined the Jews until they could be executed (“Warsaw Ghetto Uprising” par. 2). The Jews were moved to the ghettos all throughout the war, but the first ghetto was in 1939 (Blohm 12). The ghettos were miserable and the Jews had very little space to live ( Blohm 12). The Warsaw Ghetto was in Poland and thousands of Jews were killed there …show more content…
The liberation took place in 1944 (Liberation 2). The countries that liberated the Jews found starvation and disease among the Jews (liberation 7). Simon Srebnik was a survivor of the Holocaust. Simon stated, “ When I saw all of that it didn't affect me… I was only thirteen and all I'd ever seen until then were dead bodies. Maybe I didn't understand. Maybe if I'd been older, I'd understand, but the fact is I didn't. I'd never seen anything else. In the ghetto in Lodz I saw that as soon took a step, he fell dead. I thought that's the way things had to be, that it was normal.
