The Giver Reflective Essay
I chose to draw a fist to represent my theme. I chose it to represent/connect to my theme because a fist is something that has power and my theme is about power.
I also colored one side gray and the other side has multiple colors. I did that because in the book nobody but the giver and Jonas can see color so the side with different colors are meant for Jonas and the giver because they can see color and the gray side is meant for the other people because they cannot see colors. I have also made circles on each side to represent the people in the community. The two circles on the on the right represent Jonas and the Giver and the bunch of circles on the left represent the rest of the people in the community.

The Giver has age groups like “a nine” and when you turn a different age things start to happen. When someone turns “a nine” they would get a bike and when someone turns “a seven” he/she would get a front buttoned jacket. It is also different from other books because in the giver only two people can see beyond and everyone else cannot.
And no one but the Giver and Jonas can have feelings.
I can relate to Jonas’ perspective to when he felt like a whole new world was opening up to him. When I joined a new soccer team I thought I would have been one of the worst soccer players there. When I was trying out I saw so many people that were good. When I started to do a drill I was rocking it and even the coach was loving it. Once the drill was done the coach came up to me and shook my hand and said: “you’re on my team”. The coach thought that I was one of the best there and going into the season I was the probably the best player on the team.
I could also relate to Jonas when I went to Mexico. When I went to Mexico I was swimming everyday eating different foods and hanging out with my cousins all day. This felt like a whole new world was opening up to me because I have never been on a vacation that fun
