First Day at School
It’s the same old story you are totally a new creature in a completely new civilization. Yah it’s my first day at school. All the new faces around you make you feel like you are an alien from a new planet or so on. All the new and different faces looking at you as if you were interesting creatures that they have never seen and you feeling lonely is enough to make your first day at school miserable. But later when there are some new friends and you get to know some people you feel like the world is yours. You are not an alien but the same old guy from the same old neighborhood and you hang out with your new friends completely forgetting about your old friends with whom you have spend a part of your life and someday you’ll remember all the glorious moment you have spend it with your old and new friends. Then you’ll remember your old friends………….. I still remember the day when every thing was completely new and in my school was also new. At this case I missed all of my old friends whether they were nice or rude to me. I was preying to god if I could see any of those old faces. I was searching for a familiar face in a bunch of new people. I remembered all my good old days, the good old friends and all the good memories I spend with them. I began to long for our next meeting whether we will meet or not? These kind of curious things keep creeping in my mind. But I meeting with my old friends was in vain. I could not find any recognized face with whom I have spent a part of my life. I was left in between those new people who hardly knew themselves and were looking forward in meeting a new friend. Like them I was also seeking to meet some one who could help me in my troubles and to whom I can call as my friend. Then I knew once I started talking to a friend other people would also come to talk with us as they are also in search of a friend with whom they can talk and tell them about there previous school and those golden moments that they have shared with

The first day of school, as expected, was strange. Students were all excited to see each other after three months. While everyone else was concerned with catching up with friends, all I really wanted was someone to talk to me. Even if it was simply to ask who I was and what I was doing there. Things continued to be awkward during the first few days. Some people stared, and to others, I was invisible, but…

On the day we moved it was literally the hottest day of the year. When I learned we were moving, I was very sad, knowing I probably wouldn't see my friends again. The day we moved we were all very sad. Our grandparents came with us to help us move all our furniture. Almost immediately, I met our neighbors, and made friends. Even though I had made friends, I was still super nervous for my first day of school. I didn't think I would make any friends. It turns out, I met my old friend from Iowa’s family friend, and we became best…

I am most certain that the majority of students have or had a friend they have known for years. Someone they can be themselves around without any judgment. Well, I used to have a special friend similar to the described description. My former friend was one of those friends who are difficult to find and lucky to have. He and I had an abundance of similar interest. Unfortunately, all great things must come to an end, and this friendship was at its end. At this very day, I am still wondering as to what happened to our perfect friendship. I may never know the reason, however, I can bring some clarity into my understanding of this discontinued friendship. Throughout this memoir, I will describe my friendship with Anthony, analyze it through many perspectives, and compare how I felt three years ago to my current feelings.…

    El Salvador Narrative

Coming from there, I found my world had been shattered and I had to start from scratch. I found that everything I knew had now been split into three. My life at home was rigorous and hard. My mother’s expectations of me were harsh but I thank her because without her regulations, my life at school would have been different. Maybe without her given structure of my life early on, I wouldn't have risen to become valedictorian of my school. Even though I did all the work and put in all the hours on my own free will, her expectations and my fear of letting them down motivated me when I felt like I reach “good enough”. Thanks to that, I found that life at school was relatively smooth and I was able to do well. I found that hard work can bring good fortunes so it’s always worth it to put in the time. At long last, I found that doing well at school, I was able to keep and create healthy relationships with people my age. I made friends and was no longer the lonely kid in the corner. I had people I could act the way I wanted to be. The realization that all my three worlds are interconnected is no surprise. I mean, they all came from the same place that I came from. From the violent towns of El Salvador. From my past. But enough about the past. My high school life is coming to an end. This upcoming Saturday, I graduate and life will again be changing. I will no longer have to live in that white blue house. I will have to say goodbye to Arrowhead. I will have to make new friends. College is coming and while I am completely excited for it, I do feel sorrow for leaving them. But it’s not really leaving them because nothing is forever. Unlike like my college memoir class, this is not the end. This is just the start of a new phase in my…

At the age of Fifteen i lost my father, not knowing how to react i became coy and detached from school. It was Junior year where i realized that i was, in many ways, hurting myself. Gradually i became more friendly and cared more about my academics. One day at lunch while i was eating alone, a guy named Greg came up to me and started talking to me. It was the first time i felt comfortable talking to someone, without them having a clipboard in their hand, and without me laying on a couch. We spent the whole lunch time talking and after, he invited me to sit at his table with his friends.I found myself the rest of the school year engaging and becoming friends with people i never saw myself interacting with. I've learned so many things but the most important was not to be afraid to meet new people, because of that I've met so many people who i can truly say have changed my life for the better.…

When I came from school, I tried to relax and either watched the movie or to do other things. Once I tried to relax by listening to the songs. I put my favorite song on and listened. Somehow I started to go over the things that happened at school. I became sad because I realized that I had no friends except for my family. The next few days I spent time listening to that song again. However, now that song made me feel sad. Now I don’t listen to that song because I don’t want to feel sad again.…

Growing up I did not have that many friends. There were a few that I talked to, but only a handful that I truly felt close to. I did, however, meet who was and still is one of my closest friends. We knew each other through first grade, and we remained close until third grade; that was the year he had to move away. I remember him leaving hitting me hard, even though I was young I was still crushed at the harsh disappearance of my friend. It wasn't until seventh grade that we reconnected. He had moved back to the Southeast Polk school district, and we happened to have the same science class. After that, we started hanging out again, and he had told me about his time away. We lived very different lives, and when he told me about…

It was cold and raining and I was surrounded by people I didn’t not know and all technology was taken from us. As we hiked and went through avalanches and icy floor and waterfalls I felt a surge of loneliness and hopelessness. As we hiked through the wilderness I felt fear and discourage. What if I couldn’t do it? What if I fell off a cliff and died? What must my Mom be feeling now? As these questions raced through my head we crossed a muddy river and reach are next stop to set up our campsite for the night. I sat down to help a boy who had wounded his knee and try to lift his spirits in hope of forgetting mine. When one of my fellow tent mates walks up to us and she sits next to me. We get to talking and soon after she is crying. I was worried I thought maybe something is wrong that she twisted her ankle or maybe she was getting sick. As I started to ask her what was wrong she began to pour out her thoughts and emotions to me. She, much like I had been feeling lonely and scared from leaving home for the first time. At that moment I realized I was not alone there were many others like me. I began to reassure her and in the process reassured myself. At that moment I realized I’m stronger than I give myself credit for and though we may all suffer through the same issues we must help each other out in order to help ourselves…

Three years ago, I came into a world full of dreams, but these dreams can take you down if you don’t pay good attention. I am the first born in my family. Before I came here, I was so afraid to come to a new country, which I didn’t know any thing about. I was somehow confused, and the biggest fear that I had was about adapting to a new culture. After some days of being at home, I was taken to school where I met so many student, teachers, and other nonteaching staff. Although I didn’t know anyone, all the people I met welcomed me, and I really appreciated the welcome. The school counselor called one of the students and told him to show me my classes. Then the boy took me to my new class, and when I entered, all eyes were on…

All those high school entrance tests tore me apart. My classes became significantly harder as I was moved up to different levels. I look back at times were I would break down because the work was so much where I couldn’t even remember my own name. The year progressed very quickly though and soon enough half the year was gone. Each day the school seemed to be getting smaller and smaller as I was swimming at a much faster pace now that I was used to everything. I made a ton of new friends, but also came across a time where almost all of them were gone. I couldn’t tell if it was me being too worked up and angry all the time, or not being that fun. I’ve still got some friends now and I realize how much I’ve grown over the years. I’ve gotten so much more comfortable in my surroundings and is a much better person then I was before.…

I went from being in an urban setting to waking up to beautiful, snow-capped mountains outside of my window every morning. In order to make friends, I adapted, I forced myself out of my shell. I became an active student, going to the youth center almost every day and joining our softball team. When new kids came around, I quickly became friends with them and invited them to hang out with me when they felt up to it. It was hard of course, but my three years there earned me five lifelong friends that I still talk to and visit to this very day. Then, there was the start of freshman year and the second biggest move of my life, my move back to Augusta, Georgia. Though I knew other students there, it was still hard for me to actually speak to them. They now had their groups of friends, and I didn’t want to end up the awkward kid they knew from elementary school. Once again, it took me a while to make any friends at all. I ended up spending a few lonely lunches in the library, but, I did have my phone to fall back on. In the end, I adapted. I found a group of friends, and opened up, expressed myself, and have been friends with those girls, plus a few others, ever…

My first few days at Smith Elementary were rough. I didn’t know anyone and I didn’t know my surroundings. After a year of being at Oakwood I was familiar with the school and town. But I still felt out of place. I made friends but I didn’t make any strong connections with anyone. As the years went on I moved from group to group. Once Junior High started I was lonely. I had tried the cliques, gotten in trouble because of them; and I was still alone. That year was full of nights with tears. When my brother left for college at the end of my 7th grade year I was devastated. He was my best friend. How was I suppose to last without him? Well truth be told, I didn’t. My grades began slipping; I went from being a straight A student to B’s and C’s. Along with that I began lying frequently and getting in trouble. I was lost and confused. Being…

For most of my life, I have always been on the move. Due to my parent’s job’s, I have traveled to many different schools, cities, and even countries. At the age of eight, I was dragged from my primary school in India and transfer to a different school outside my state. This was the place where I had grown up with many of my friends since kindergarten and some almost from nursery school. While some kids may have been enthusiastic to get transferred to a new school since it was one of the best in the country, I wasn’t content one bit. I started missing my friends immediately and was not ready to make new friends.…

In middle school the only grades I had from 6-8th grade were “A’s” & “B’s” I only got a “C” once. I thought that was going to happen in high school, but no. I made new friends and got very comfortable around them. I remember walking into my biology class, and I was the last one to go in. I’m really shy so I was scared to sit next to total strangers, there was one seat left. There were three girls and I knew one of them from middle school. It was really awkward for about a week, then we all started talking to much. We all became amazing friends. There names are Jessica, Brooke, and Claire then another girl started talking to us, Nadia. We had so much fun at school, so we decided to hang out somewhere out of school. We were gonna go to a place called “Get Air” it’s a trampoline park. Claire and I were gonna take the bus , we were going to meet Jessica and Nadia there. Sadly Brooke wasn’t able to go . We still had so much fun there, even though we got in trouble a lot for doing flips and running in areas where there were little kids. We all had a feeling of a great time making eachother laugh with dumb jokes, laughing at each other for getting injured, and we were happy seeing each other happy. It’s like the song from Black Eyed Peas said “ I Gotta…
