The Epic Hero Beowulf
The Epic Hero Beowulf “A soldier should know the difference between words and deeds and should always keep that clear in his head.” You ever wondered why Beowulf was so great at what he was doing and why he was a good leader ? It is because in this story Beouwulf has super-human strength. He is on a long quest through his journey. He also performs great deeds for his people. The first characteristic of the epic hero Beowulf is that he has incredible super-human strength. “Using a sword and armor and shield to save him from the dragons hot flaming breathe.” Beowulf fought a dragon with only a sword that the dragon broke and dropped while both of them were in mid-air and a little knife he had. He had fought Grendel with no armor on by his choice and didn’t use any weapons against him. Grendel’s mom alone. Then he has to go back to his kingdom to slay the dragon that was attacking. “Beowulf strolled calmly confidently toward the tower under the rocky cliffs no coward man can or could have walked.” This explains his journey and scenery back to the kingdom. He goes on his quests because he has to protect his people and kingdom. If he didn’t slay all the creatures they would come to the kingdom at any time and harm innocent civilian lives. The last characteristic that I chose was that Beowulf performs brave deeds. “I have never known fear as a young, fought in endless battles I am how old but I will fight again.” This is when Beowulf was suiting up, getting ready to
