How was your first week of learning about pumpkins? I love the smell of pumpkins, but do not like eating anything that has a pumpkin flavor. Yuck! When I think of pumpkins I think of Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin. My class will be having a pizza/popcorn party and watching Charlie Brown because it Halloween and they help deliver coffee to teachers on Fridays. Has anyone carve a pumpkin yet? The Fall Festival is right round the corner. I’m bummed that I can’t go to the festival. I have a wedding that I am in (I’m the Maid of Honor) and I think the bride would be mad at me if I didn’t go to her wedding. You guys will have fun and I will have to hear all about it.…
Personally, I’m going to have to say no. The painting does a very horrendous job at depicting the relationship between the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims during the First Thanksgiving. The painting is very simplistic. In other words, it fails to recognize the crucial details of what actually led up to the First Thanksgiving, and what occurred afterward as a result of the Peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians. There’s a lot more to the story of Thanksgiving. The painting only focuses on a very small piece of the whole ordeal and fails to capture the big picture of it all.…
Should Christmas decorations be on display prior to thanksgiving? Well, no because I think that it breaks tradition or people spend more money than they usually have. On the other hand some readers might disagree because some want Christmas to last more longer so they can enjoy it. Don’t go away more details are coming your way!…
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. It is also the time to sit down and enjoy a meal with your family. Even though enjoying a meal with your family is very important, Thanksgiving is also important to ask you and your family what are you thankful for. Being thankful can be a long or short accomplishment; a goal that can be achieved. This year, I’m thankful that I’m currently enrolled at Thomas Nelson Community College, graduated from high school, and my family is supporting me through college.…

Thanksgiving is the one holiday in which the meal takes six weeks to plan, three days to cook and five minutes and 30 seconds to eat so everyone can watch 10-hours of football. Contrary to popular wisdom, the sole purpose of the holiday is not giving thanks and togetherness. It is about football, and pie.…
In “A Thanksgiving Celebration” Nicholasa Mohr, focuses on a mother named Amy. By overcoming her disconnections and reconnecting with her native culture, Amy is able to achieve the Thanksgiving celebration that she wants for her children.…
The death of my beloved sister plagued our Thanksgiving celebrations for numerous years. Nevertheless, by the matchless grace of God, our beautiful traditions replaced the horrible memory of the last time I saw her alive. In 2000, while living in Okinawa Japan I noticed a paradigm shift in the way we celebrated that wonderful holiday. I spent that particular holiday cooking for my wonderful military family.…
Throughout my 13 years I have been through so far, I have thankfully not experienced losing someone really close to me, losing a prized possession, etc. Everyone hopes these things will never happen, but I know one day I will, even when trying to avoid them, it’s impossible. However, there was one moment that made me realize all the grateful things I already have around me. This day, was Thanksgiving day of 2012, in Central Park, Pasadena, when I was helping out at a little event for the homeless.…
Have a wonderful, peaceful holiday with family and friends, enjoying good food and good conversation. Let us be grateful that our mom is still here amongst us.…
Thanksgiving break, a time for family fun and relaxation, unless you’re the chef du’jor of the meal. Fortunately for me I was only the assistant, mom still gets the full privileges of preparing the feast. I do though get consulted on all, or most of the food safety aspects that go with it. So you can imagine my trepidation when asked, “can I defrost the turkey in a cooler of brined ice water?” Do what! A cooler of brined ice water? Yes, that was the question of the moment, 24 hours pre-turkey day. It seems that after three full days in the refrigerator, the turkey had not defrosted, at all. Red flags, alarm bells, screams of fear, were what I heard in my head as I told my mother no don’t do it, it’s not safe. The ideal way to defrost is by…
Once upon a time I lived a semi normal life. The last day I lived that life was Thanksgiving of 2002. The people that made up my semi normal life was Papa, Nannie, Mom, Aunt Jodi, and me. As you may of concluded it was Thanksgiving, but this one wasn’t like the rest. We were going to Chicago to my Aunt Jackie and Uncle John’s house to have Thanksgiving dinner.…
